I'm not as slick with weaving terminology as I am with knitting but this book has demistified a lot of it and i feel like the learning is progressive rather than a great, drowning, wash of facts. Ive put a mental paperclip on the double heddle chapter though. i need a lot more experience before I try that.i promised myself when i started weaving that i would sample sample sample but that life was too short for coasters and teatowels. This book has equiped me to make fabric. Thank you ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definite must for any weaving bookshelf *by G***C on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2018* Good text book; clear pictures and generally easy to follow. I'm new to weaving, so I needed something that would give me ideas on what could be achieved. Love the spiral binding and on the whole, techniques are explained clearly. As it's title suggests, it's a book of ideas rather than a 'how to weave' book. Goes into great detail of how subtles differences can be achieved just by simple changes to the drafting order. Covers major topics such as pick up sticks and double weave. I did find the explanation of weaving draft charts difficult to follow - I have worked it out now, but it was not easy as rigid heddles don't have 4 shafts so the 'tie-up' grid bamboozled me at first. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a gem! *by C***G on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2011* If you are just starting out with rigid-heddle weaving, or if you have been weaving for a while and are looking for more creative ideas, this is the book for you. I've looked at quite a few books on rigid-heddle weaving and got more than frustrated with authors' assumptions that I already knew things that I didn't. Jane Patrick makes everything seem do-able. Written in plain language with plenty of colour photos and clear instructions I almost jumped for joy when I first paged through it. I had bought Hands on Rigid Heddle Weaving by Betty Linn Davenport when I first started weaving. This is a priceless book to have if you are just learning how to weave. Combined with Jane Patrick's book, The Weaver's Idea Book, you really have all you need to get started and to progress in your weaving.
