Our spread in rural Florida is nicely sized, so there are no legal concerns. The Ruger's American-ish stock only had a forward sling stud as an available attachment point; the Caldwell Pic Rail Adapter Plate promised to add a small Picattiny Rail using that sling stud. The Adapter was mounted no more than twenty-five minutes after desertcart delivered it (and a lot of that time was looking for my T-Handled star wrenches.) The adapter proved to be well designed and very solid. The instructions were clearly written and complete, if I had chosen to use them. As an unexpected benefit, the rail cants 5-10(?) degrees vertically to allow it to parallel the bore axis. The Cadwell Pic Rail Adapter is eminently practical way to attach a light (or bipod) to the forward sling stud. It works well and looks professional, and the ability to cant the rail is a real benefit when using a light. All in all, it's an excellent solution to an annoying problem, and a very good value for the money. My only (very small) concern is that at 2.4 ozs, it's a little chonky. Would I buy again? Hells, yes; I'm already looking at buying another one.
