I put a 3mm board below the base board. This raised the base enough. I only use it for cutting small pieces that fit on the base, so the clamps are not affected and the miter works fine. The only caveat is that if you use the clamps on boards that exceed the base board, you will need to put a 3mm piece under the part that extends to keep the board that you are cutting level **Q: what is the max base plate that can fit?** A: You can cut up to 1-1/2" thick. **Q: Will this work with a worm-drive circular saw?** A: The Kreg Crosscut Station is designed to work with standard circular saws.
