Are all the pieces supposed to be styled the same? We have no variant of style so multiple pieces fit where they may not truly go, was this intended??

Great question, there are not meant to be duplicate pieces. All the pieces are unique, however they may be very similar, so it may appear to fit in a place where it does not.

Why is the Edge piece’s cut wrong?

I thought this the case as well, however, I've noticed that the issue is simply that the cut on some pieces is off only by a millimeter or so. The test is to turn the pieces over. If there are no spaces or gaps, the pieces are meant to go together. If you see any gap at all, you've got an incorrect match. There is no problem with cut - it's just that a few of the cuts are just ever so slightly different. You can view this as one of two ways. 1) An annoyance or 2) a feature that makes this particular puzzle hard and even more challenging than more basic puzzles. For me, the reason I got a 3000 piece puzzle was to have a challenge and so having just finished this puzzle (took about 3 weeks) I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.
