One uses a special provided tube to fill the reservoirs, and the wicks are adjustable to make the flame larger or smaller. I recommend using genuine Wolfard oil or an equivalent because it does not smoke and has hardly any odor at all. The larger lamps have larger reservoirs and therefore will burn longer on one filling, but on the average a filling will burn for around 12-20 hours. Keeping the top of the wick about level with the top of the glass tube that contains it gives us just the right size flame. A grouping of different sizes truly makes a beautiful and impressive display. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars medium-sized oil lamp *by L***K on Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2011* The glass lamp is well made and seems likely to survive years of use, but only after years of use will I know whether the glass was well-tempered. It looks good and works just fine. Extra wicks and extra glass wick-holders are surprisingly expensive, and so is the recommended oil. The oil does burn with a long flame without giving off smoke or soot, but the price is about 10 times the cost of the actual oil at wholesale (admittedly a tank car load.) I only received the one. I should have read what I was purchasing a little closer. I think the proper advertising should show a picture of each one separately.
