The solar motion sensor lights outdoor have 3 modes, all changeable via a switch on the rear of the unitMode 1: The motion sensor light automatically lights up with 100% brightness in dark environment when movement is detected, and automatically turns off if there is no movement detected for 30 seconds.Mode 2: Automatically lights up with 30% brightness in the dark until you switch it off (Or until daylight comes).Mode 3: In this mode, the lamp automatically lights up with 100% brightness in a dark environment when movement is detected. After 30 seconds without movement, the light keeps shinning but with lower brightness(3% brightness).I've only used mine in Mode 3 and mainly use them in my back garden to allow me to put my bicycle away at night without treading on slugs and snails etc. So far they have never failed to work, which means they are receiving enough solar energy to keep them charged (which after trying other types that failed was my main point of concern). I've read other reviews for this type of light that mention that they let in water, because of this I've been keeping an eye on them and so far even though they've been thoroughly soaked, none of them are showing any signs whatsoever of water ingress.
