This is arguably the best phone for a digital minimalist given the incredible value for money that this phone provides. The following are the pros and cons as I see them: Pros: - Huge battery life - in a time where a day long battery life seems big, this has about 3 weeks worth. - 4G Hotspot capability - combine this with the battery life and you can be mobile and connected for days. - Cheap - For £37 just buy a couple and keep them as spare. - WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter - while typing out messages on this phone can be a bit of a task, you still have the three major social media platforms available to you. - Google Assistant and Maps - Not the full fledged version but you do still get access to the Google Assistant and Google Maps. - MicroSD expandable storage - FM Radio - use with the included headphones and you basically have free entertainment on the go. - Durable - made from the same polycarbonate as the essential Nokia feature phones, so you know it can take a beating. - Camera - This isn't going to win you photography prizes, but if needed, you have a 2MP camera available to you. Cons: - Not a smartphone - if you're looking for a cheap smartphone, go with the Nokia 1, or Nokia 2.1. This is not a smartphone. It's the smartest feature phone. - App gap - understandably, this feature phone does not have access to apps like Snapchat, Duo, etc. Also games are abysmal (with the exception of Snake). - No front camera. - No premium feel - while the phone does have a cool design, the feel is of course cheap plastic. Hence the low price. - Keypad - this one is slightly personal - I wish the keypad was similar to the Nokia 3310 3G or the Nokia C5-00. The keypad on this is perfectly serviceable, but could be better. Overall, if you're trying to reduce your smartphone usage, either temporarily or permanently, this would be the perfect option for a phone. So trade in your £500 smartphone, buy this £37 one, and take a holiday.

This is early days for me, as I've had the phone for only one week. Thus this review is an interim one. I am older, but now avoid the 'phones for the elderly'; it ages me!! The phone arrived earlier than the delivery window said, and for those with concerns about packaging, mine was wrapped around in TWO padded envelopes/then an outer plastic delivery envelope/then a box! Very well packaged folks! The supplier sent two early emails to advise me that I could contact them re any problems. Not bad. I went for the yellow, which is the quintessential 8110. On appearance it is the best phone I have owned for a while now. A young friend put the SIM in for me, and I got on with the rest; not difficult. This is a DPSP as opposed to a SPDP......If I tell you the first acronym, you can work out the second. It is a Dumb Phone for Smart People...! As others have said, it makes takes phone calls. No one would ever suggest that texting on these phones can match a smart phone, but they text; it just needs more patience,--and ignoring the predictive text thing, unless you are a fan of it is better. Slider is smooth and easy on mine; I like the hidden key option. (NB: if you are have arthriticky fingers, it would not be easy to navigate the small non protruding keys; sadly not a phone for you). The jury is still out; I have to see, but on first glance/use, I like this very much, and welcome the return of this particular maker to the market. Nokia always made a good phone, and are now recognising the niche market of the uber tech' disaffected/addicted smartphone user, looking at an alternative or a back up phone. Smart move Nokia! UPDATE: My review is directed at MY seller Technolec. I paid £59.99 for the yellow phone. These comments are NOT directed at the current seller. I have contacted Amazon about the price increase of well over 100%!! Exercise caution..

So.... I owned my first smartphone in 2009, an iPhone 3GS. It was the biggest thing since the..... the biggest thing Apple had brought out before... So overall in the last 11 years, I have been an avid smartphone user, both iPhone and latterly Android handsets. In 2009 a 3GS was £300, now iPhones are fetching +£1000! As smartphones got bigger etc, my tablet hardly got any use. As such, I was forever glued to my smart phone. Id be couch scrolling whilst the TV was on, dinner time felt the need to have the phone on the table and in general what hit me hard, I was finding that it was getting in the way of time I spent with my children. Not good at all. As a society we are becoming far too reliant and addicted to smartphones. So, to break this cycle, turning off notifications etc just wouldnt be enough. I needed to unplug. How? Simple, get rid of the smartphone, or at least relegate it to a drawer and only use it on wifi when need to check something quickly such as bank balance etc. This also removed me from direct contact to social media platforms, another bug bear. The solution for me was to buy a 'dumbphone' and this unit completely fits the bill. Has 4G connectivity and can create wifi hot spots! Perfect. So if on holiday and need to take a smart device I can do, but said smart device can stay at the bottom of the bag. I have owned this for a week now, it has been refreshing. Productivity has shot up. The phone has a great battery life, phone calls are clear, I am not hassled by constant notifications of 'FOMO', and texting on it is like going back to 2005! That suits me fine as means I am not drawn into group chats on whatsapp. The phone for the cost is made well enough. I wanted the yellow but my sensible head told me to get black as yello was £20 more expensive. If same cost, I'd have gotten the yellow handset for sure. Anyway, I am hoping to use this handset for as long as it lasts as I am now breaking free from the smartphone mould and bi-annual 'upgrades'..... 'Dump your smartphone....'

Lovely phone

I purchased the 8110 Nokia banana phone as I wanted one back in the nineties. Nokia was once a great phone manufacturer which stood for quality. It’s sad to say those days have gone, quite simply this looks great, a modern look to the iconic Matrix phone, although it is a little plasticy to the touch. Poor points are; The screen is not that sharp to look at, however when you’ve used an iPhone over the last 10 years, I guess it’s wrong to judge this part of the phone but honestly it’s not that great. The key pad is small and a little hard to navigate, the slide is a nice feature though. My biggest gripe is the phone drops calls and losses WiFi signal too easily, approximately 40% of the time. Seeing as I brought this for my business, I find it embarrassing half way through a conversation the phone drops the call, with signal strength on the screen showing bars? I guess it could be a dud or faulty, but reading other reviews I think it’s more the technology. I have to agree with others who have left reviews that for the money it’s not the best value. I would expect more for £65 and would say it’s worth £25 - £30, no more. Luckily, I only used the phone for a couple of days and retained all the packaging, never used the charger (micro usb) nor earphones so I have returned the phone back to Amazon. As usual Amazon service for returns is top marks, 10 out of 10. Thank you Amazon. I have decided to go for a second hand iPhone 4 instead off eBay. It was a little more then £65, but the quality will be there, should retain calls and will be easier to use. Sorry, but I will not be considering any further products from Nokia in the near future. They say never meet your hero, it will only end up in disappointment. I should have listened to that advice.

I thought i would get a retro phone remake since i miss those simple days when we aren't hooked to our smartphones checking the latest facebook/twitter/ news post. First impressions the phone is bigger than i expected, compared to my other old classics before the touch smartphone era. Cannot comment on battery life as i have stopped using it after couple days, but i think it will last me 4-5 days of normal use. The OS software is a let down, its not nokia's own os, but a shared platform called KaiOS which is available on other brands of phones. The phone has some built in software apps which you can not uninstall or disable so it does not show up on the home screen. The predictive text function is available but not turned on by default, and toggling through different case characters is a nightmare, it goes from uppercase > numbers > lowercase. Whatsapp is available, cool i thought which initially i had trouble downloading due to no sim card connected while setting up the phone, no don't expect to have emojis on whatsapp as there is none built in. The KaiOS system can be buggy which require the phone to be restarted. The snakes game graphics has improved but not fun like the originals.

As of 21st May 2019 my Nokia 8110 4g's are both in the drawer and I have been obliged to buy another 'smart' phone, so I am working my way through three menu selections just to get to my phone book, which is how life is with a 'smart' phone:- unnecessarily complicated. I bought one Nokia 8110 4g because, reading the specification, it would do all I needed it to do. Unfortunately, it never did. So, at £60 the Nokia 8110 4g was half the price of a smartphone; and believing it possible that I had been sold a malfunctioning item, I bought another (for another £60) and it turned-out to be just the same. Specifically, there is no software to enable the 8110 4g to function with data exchange when connected to a PC. Neither is there any on-line support from the manufacturer and there are few forums offering help, or, more specifically, assurances that you are not alone in having a 'dodgy' handset. The in-car blue-tooth connectivity drops-out after perhaps ten minutes and is troublesome to re-engage. The battery capacity dropped from 2-days to just a few hours within two-months of purchase. The WiFi hotspot never worked at all. These defects were present on both handsets that I bought. There was no direct support from Nokia, the manufacturer. I, and many others I expect, have been 'conned' into buying an impractical, non-functional, gimmick. With my battery life now down to just a few hours, my phone will not keep working for one working day. Perhaps there is something wrong with the phone and I could get help under the 'warranty.' Unfortunately, Nokia technical support have not helped me get what I needed form this phone; a phone which, at least on paper, should have met my needs perfectly. The Nokia 8110 4g now looks to me like a cut-price execution of a good idea, with a poor battery and poor technical support this is the end of the road for the 'new' Nokia brand. I now need a replacement phone for use at work and Nokia is not going to be on my new list of preferred brands, in fact, I will be avoiding it. Revised review of 21st April. I have had no trouble at all making and receiving calls with this phone. Surfing the 'net and handling E-mails works pretty smoothly and reliably too, within the limitations of the push-button keypad. However, I have got nowhere with the WiFi Hotspot issue. Neither the manufacturer, nor my service provider have been able to help. The battery life of my 'phone was originally good for two days of standby and, perhaps, 15 minutes of calls each day. The battery life is deteriorating fast and now, after just a few months, it can not cope from 7 am to 10 pm of my usage. Revised review of 27th March 2019 This phone has a WiFi Hot Spot facility; and, whereas the phone works fine when surfing the net on it's own, my phone will not function to provide a HotSpot for my laptop. Neither EE, nor Nokia have been able to help me sort this out. The laptop logs-on to the phone, but there is no internet service on the laptop. Neither can my phone be accessed as a device from my PC using a USB cable. I have tried various cables and the PC does charge the phone's battery, but the PC does not 'see' the phone as a device and it cannot access it in any way. Yes, I am running a fully-updated edition of Windows 10. This smartphone is smart enough for me. Texting may take a little longer, using numerical keys rather than a qwerty screen, but it does type the text you intended-to and does not respond hysterically to rain drops hitting the screen. It can handle E-mail, internet searches and the Calendar function synchronises with my Google Diary. The battery seems to last a couple of days and the mobile reception seems good. The actual ringer and speech volumes seem louder than most and need to be turned-down a little bit. A shortcut button (top right) above the 'select' button has shortcuts to WiFi; Volume; Screen Brightness; Cellular Data; Torch; Calculator; Bluetooth; Camera and Airplane Mode, all of which may be easily turned on or off in an instant. If it beeps in my pocket, then I press the Notices button, to the left, opposite the Shortcuts button, and the list of the most recent events is immediately displayed and may be examined, one-by-one, using the Select button, in the middle. The screen is not a touch screen, but it is a full-colour 35mm x 50mm viewing screen.

This is a better 'phone for forty quid than we expected. It looks and feels OK too. Accurately moulded and easy enough to use with my enormous (and increasingly arthritic) hands. Earlier software was flaky, but the latest v16 download of Kaios seems to be fine. . The important thing is to update it immediately! Ours arrived with version 11 software that could not even connect to 3G/4G but found our WiFi easily. So log on to the Wifi, then go via Menu > Settings > Device > Device information > Software Update ... and do it. . We received version 16, which took a couple of hours to download and nearly an hour to install. ... and everything worked, but we had something called 'Twitter' added to the Menu. Oh well. We think everything is working now - including Power Save and connecting to 1P automatically. . The battery only gets 4/5 stars since it is already clear that the advertised 25-day battery life is only if you never use it at all - but at the present rate it looks good for a week or two even with all the 'New Toy' use. . The updated Kaios software seems snappier, and does what we need. Yes, you can get YouTube, Google Maps, and indeed Twitter - even WhatsApp is now in the Store. Just don't expect to be able to see graphics that well. But I do like KaiOS now that we have V16. It is pretty obvious to use, and the 'manual' is OK, although it could really do with an annotated screen shot that details the meaning of the tiny icons. Screen is fine for texts, but it is small and even with my varifocals at full zoom the movies on YouTube are not ideal. But what do you expect? . A phone like this is an achievement - a forty quid feature phone that does some 'smart' phone tricks, yet still runs for over a week on one charge. Plays music, all that stuff. FM Radio is not bad at all - especially on the earpieces. Radio 3 is at a good audio quality that the tiny speaker naturally cannot reproduce. Works OK via Bluetooth, but that hits the battery more than expected. EDITED TEXT FOLLOWS We bought two of these in August 2019, and they are both still working, but not so well. The keyboards on both of them have deteriorated, and their keys are now sticky and/or tend to mis-key or auto-repeat. Makes texting a royal pain. The batteries are losing capacity at a reasonable rate, one of the 'phones will still last over a week on standby, but the other needs topping up after five days. Not going to buy batteries for them because of the keyboards. Will be looking for a couple of new 'phones in 2022! . Not recommended now, particularly at silly money!

In contrast to other review I received Model TA-1071 single SIM which registered fine to KPN 4G. Came with KaiOS 12 and upgraded to release 16 (which offers Whatsapp support) after placing a SIM in the device. At the current (low) price this is a good deal for a basic backup hardly-any-feature phone that will also double as 4G hotspot.

Il telefono e' molto bello e funziona come da offerta Nokia. Problema Whatsapp, innanzitutto diciamo che Whatsappa e' scaricabile dalle versioni di software 16 in avanti. Il mio telefono mi e' arrivato con versione 12. Non aveva Whatsapp nello Store Kios. Ho contattato la Live Chat del servizio supporto di Nokia questo sabato mattina 11 gennaio 2020 i quali mi hanno chiesto: 1) numero IMEI 2) aggiornare il software del Nokia 8110 Ho dato il mio IMEI ed ho fatto presente che il software riportava versione 12. Mi hanno fatto fare aggiornamento , dentro c'era la SIM del provider, e nuovamente il telefono non dava presenti nuove versioni. MI hanno fatto togliere la SIM del mio Provider e fatto collegare solo con WIFI e la versione 16.00.17.03 e' stata scaricata ed installata. Il motivo del mancato aggiornamento alla versione 16 e' perche' sono i Service Provider di telefonia che devono rilasciare l'aggiornamento, ma se lo fai con WIFI il telefono va diretto al server Nokia bypassando i vari fornitori di telefonia che magari non anno ancora aggiornato i link. quindi Ottimo telefono e whatsapp Funziona !

Comprato per mia nonna e si è rilevato davvero un ottimo prodotto. Per il prezzo a cui viene venduto ha davvero tutto (dallo store per scaricare le app, alla suite base Google fino ai principali social come WhatsApp e Facebook). La forma curva in stile banana lo rende davvero unico. Uniche due pecche il joypad piccolo e la batteria che, mia nonna, ha lamentato essere poco performante per l'utilizzo che ne fa lei.
