I was drawn to them because they are different than the lights being sold out there with the caps (they all look alike!). I like the modern look and the fact that each is an independent light (not hooked up to one solar panel with a cord). I purchased 2 sets of 6, but I think even one set would've been fine. I was concerned when I read in the instructions that a street light might impact the lights from turning on, but I have a bright street light right across the street and it didn't impact their luminosity at all. I purchased them because I don't want to have the porch lights on all night but at the same time, the house looks too dark at night. These were the perfect solution for me. Installation was really easy. I have hard soil and rocks so I took a garden stake and hammered the holes first, and then I just slipped the lights with their steaks right in. They've been through wind and rain with no problems. I opened the boxes and tested them. 3 of 12 did not light but worked properly after a short time in the sun. The stakes are in the bottom of the lights and you just remove the bottom to get the stake. The top (solar panel) pulls off and can be charged separate from the fixture. Handy if you have a light in a more shaded area - Also, there is an on/off switch on the bottom of the solar panel - turn it on! So, you can take the solar panel off and put it in the sunlight, put it back on at night. These lights do not light up a big area, just a very warm pleasing glow around the light. I am pleased with the look. Very modern, stylish look. Installing is as simple as pushing the stake into the ground. I recommend getting the lights straight and level and then tamping the earth around the light with a rubber hammer to help keep it nice and straight. Mine look great and have gotten good comments from friends who have seen them at night. The design also makes them look great in the daytime. I opened both packages and placed them around the yard, so I'm not sure if it was just one dud package or if there were a few dead ones mixed in with each box.These are lining the pathway to our front door and get a good amount of sun during the day, but when they come on at night, there are always a few certain lights that require a few taps on the top in order for them to turn on. Every night, without fail. Not sure what the deal is, but kind of disappointed.
