I did the research and read all the reviews on a million of these kettles. I wanted a good quality kettle that also looks nice out in the open. I am always willing to pay more for better quality. I considered many more expensive brands but I finally settled on this one which is much less expensive then SO many others. So far, it's perfect. You can see in my photo that I keep it right out in the open in my office and it looks nice and it looks really cool when it's on as it lights up blue, very cool looking . It is tucked right in the corner on my cabinet. It's a simple switch to turn it on and it heats water very quickly. The wide opening makes it very easy to fill and easy to clean. The entire base does not heat up, so I am never worried about burning myself or anyone else when the kettle is not on the base, which is really nice. The one thing that I think would be nice is if the cord was a little bit longer, but it works perfectly fine for me as is and I don't think I would want a crazy long cord anyway... It's working perfectly as it is and where I have it. And for this you can't beat the price. You don't need to spend all of the extra money unless you want to pay for a name or a certain look for your kettle. This one is great. It's glass but I can also see traveling with this and just packing it really well so it doesn't crack. I am 100% happy with this product and I do recommend it to anyone. You can't control the temperature on this item but you don't really need to either so I give the temperature control five stars because it boils the water as it should, I don't need to know how hot it is, I don't really care. 🙂

I have recently started making my iced tea using loose leaf tea and was looking for something to streamline my process. Prior to making this purchase, I would heat water in the microwave using a glass batter pitcher, add the loose tea to steep, use a strainer to remove the loose tea and then pour the brewed tea into the glass milk bottle I use to store it in . Not only does this kettle heat the water in half the time as the microwave, but it eliminated the need for straining because it has straining holes in the pour spout which I didn't realize when I ordered it. Now I can just heat the water, add loose tea right into the kettle and pour it directly into my milk jar without using a strainer. So much easier than carrying heated water from the microwave across the kitchen, etc. This method is quicker, less cumbersome, and fewer items to clean up. Since the kettle opens so widely, it's very easy to remove the used loose tea and rinse it out to be ready for the next use. I'm sure I will use this not only for tea, but anything that requires the use of boiling water. Of course this kettle will work when using tea bags as well so it will be a very versatile piece of equipment in my kitchen.

Update March 2023. After daily use for 4 months, today we set the kettle onto its base and flipped the switch to heat roughly 1 liter of water. Something seemed off; the blue LEDs came on but no hissing sound after 30 seconds. After 60 seconds. Another 15 seconds go by and we start to hear the initial sounds of heating. I put my hand against the kettle bottom where the heating coils are: slightly warm. OK this was interesting, we decided to wait and let it do its thing. Almost 6 minutes in, the sound faded toward silence and the surface of the water began to jiggle. Eventually got to a rolling boil but nowhere near what it had done for the past 4 months. We let it boil to see if it would auto-shut off. It did not. 4 minutes of boiling did nothing to shut off the kettle. The boil never got as intense as earlier days. My guess is there must be at least 2 heating coils inside this thing, and 1 of them had burned out. It's now faster to boil water on our induction stovetop in a covered saucepan. Time for another kettle. Won't be buying this one. Original review: This is our 3rd such glass kettle. It comes with a potentially serious hazard. Whereas other kettle brands turn off the power switch when you lift the kettle off the base, this one does not. Power switch only goes off for 2 out of 3 reasons; you manually turn it off or it turns itself off when boiling water heats the glass enough to trigger a thermister in the handle. If you lift the kettle while it boils but don't manually turn off the switch, it remains on. When you then set the empty kettle back on its base, it immediately starts heating again. With no water in it, the heating element overheats very fast and destroys itself. Mindful people shouldn't have a problem seeing the blue lights come on and recognizing the problem. "Mindful people" usually doesn't include children.

I have now owned this item for 3 years, and I am so pleased with it that I had to come in and write a review. Things I love about this product; 1) Fill and forget- you do not have to monitor or wait for it to boil, the lever will pop when it is done. It boils the water so much faster than on a range, and it makes it easy to measure out what you want and will adjust depending on the volume of water you add. 2) No plastic or BPA which were requirements for me. The blue lights are nice and will turn off when the water is done for a visual notification in addition to the pop-lever noise. 3) If you have hard water sometimes calcium will build up and flake off on the bottom-inside of the kettle. I found a few table spoons of vinegar mixed with a cup of water... do a boil cycle, not only is all the build up removed, but the metal shines like the day I bought it EVERY time. AKA super easy to clean! 4) 3 years later and it works just like the first day I bought it. So awesome that I am now going to gift one to my sister-in-law. 5) Light-weight yet durable. I use this kettle every day (sometimes multiple times) except when I go on a trip. It works the same as day one. To the manufacturer- you have crafted a wonderful product and you have a new fan. This is a great little kettle, especially if you boil water on a daily basis. I use a french press to make my coffee, so I can just pour the water into this thing every morning, hit the button, and hop in the shower. When I get out, the water has cooled slightly and is the perfect temperature to pour over the coffee grounds in the french press, which makes my morning coffee a breeze! This kettle boils water super fast, takes up very little precious counter space, airs out rather quickly with the lid open, and even looks neat when it's lit up. So, why only four stars? Because after reading the specs and a handful of reviews (before ordering), I was under the impression that this kettle contained NO PLASTIC PARTS that came in contact with the water. I knew the handle was plastic when I ordered it, but I'm okay with plastic so long as it does not come in contact with the boiling water. After searching numerous kettles on Amazon, this was the ONLY one I had found in my price range that didn't seem to have any plastic in contact with the contents of the kettle. Much to my chagrin, however, I now notice that the hinge that holds the lid to the vessel is plastic. Although it does not directly contact the water, there is proximate contact via the condensation that inevitably forms as the water boils, which then falls back down into the water in the vessel. So, four stars due to plastic parts. However, while this kettle does have plastic on it, it is the least amount of plastic I've found within its price range.

We have acidic water, so I wanted something that would not corrode quickly and hold up well to heavy use. I have had several other "stainless steel" pots and kettles disintegrate to the point that they were unsafe to use after a few months. I am so pleased with this kettle! The lights in the base are a fun touch; the glass body lets me see exactly what stage of heating the water is at if I want it below boiling point. It heats water relatively quickly and has great capacity for large batches of tea. The one-touch lid opener does not take a lot of pressure and the lid is good-sized but not flimsy. The toggle at the base of the kettle is well placed, not awkward. The heating base itself does not overheat or make the counter warm. Yes, easy to clean. I drain it of all water after use to reduce the chance of pitting. Used almost every day for two years and still rockin'! Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this after I put my old glass kettle on the burner and then absent-mindedly walked away and forgot about it! Needless to say, while I was gone all of the water boiled out of my old glass teapot which then melted onto the electric heating element of my stove. It scared me to death and prompted me to purchase this kettle which automatically shuts off. I absolutely love it. It's easy to use and clean. The water boils quickly. The kettle looks great. The water only touches glass and stainless steel. AND - - I can safely walk away and know the kettle will automatically turn itself off if I get distracted. I highly recommend this tea kettle!

UPDATE: Although I absolutely love this product, it only last 10 months, then it started leaking making it unuseable. That is why I downgraded it from 5 stars to 3. I don't know if I will buy another brand or try this again hoping for better results. All I know is I don't want to have to buy a new kettle every 10 months. They aren't cheap enough for that. I don't drink coffee but I used a coffee maker to warm up water to make teas. The one thing that always creeped me out about the coffee makers is the dark water reservoir. You just can't see in it well. I am bit of a clean freak so not being able to see into, or easily clean an appliance, didn't sit well with me. Then one day, after drinking a tea, I discovered a large, dead bug in the reservoir. Was so disgusted that I had just drank bug water that I immediately threw the whole thing out. Bought this see through kettle and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT. You can not only see into it well but all you literally do is flip down a switch and the water heats up very quickly. You just can't get more simple than this. It also looks attractive on the countertop and takes up less space. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
