Not sure if it is just my pair. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD LOOKING BUT LOW INSTEP FOR THIS OWNER *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2016* These boots are ruggedly good looking and true to size and a perfect height for my needs. I would consider them casual/everyday boots and would have no qualms walking through mud and snow with these boots because they are so well made. The only drawback is the instep is too low. I have high arches and thus a high instep, so it fits very tight in that region. Ive tried to wear them on several occasions but they hurt my foot too much to wear them long enough to stretch them out. They even hurt my instep even when Im not standing. Its a constant pressure pushing down on the top of my foot. Ive always had a high instep but never have I had to stretch out any of my other Freebird boots. I got the PIKE for a very good price so I never returned them hoping I would eventually stretch them out. Its not going so well. Sometimes strong tough leather has its drawbacks so I might have to resell them. However, before I choose to sell them, I might try wearing a wet sock similar to what the real cowboys did in the old days when boots didn't not have a right or left foot. They would wet the entire boot and then wear them until the boots dried and thus they would have a custom pair of boots. I'd really have to love these boots to deal with that. So Ive got give it some serious thought. As for the zipper, as long as it closes and opens then its a low priority right now. I hear you can sprinkle graphite on the zipper and it will help loosen it but frankly Im glad its a sturdy zipper. It matches the toughness of the boot.
