desertcart.com: Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol. 1: 9781401282998: Morrison, Grant, Kubert, Andy, Daniel, Tony: Books Review: Grant Morrison and Batman Omnibus, You need to own this - I never bought an Omnibus before, I could never decide which one to buy. I got this on my recommendations and it brings great stories like Batman & Son, Batman The Black Glove and Batman R.I.P. 3 phenomenal stories plus so much extra content. The guest stars are great from Damian starting as Robin, Tim Drake, Dick Grayson, Batman Inc, The great Bat-Mite, Ras Al Ghul, Talia, Bane, The Joker, Man-Bat, Alfred who steals the show as always, Gordon, The return of Batman of Zur-En-Arrh which if you know a little bit about the comics it's an amazing suit full of color and the way Grant makes it modern is awesome. The art is amazing, the writing is sharp, the cameos and call backs are incredible. The price is great for some much content. The best story of the 3, is Batman R.I.P.. just when you think Batman is down, he always comes back for more. Go and click add to cart and buy it, you won't regret it. Review: YOU NEED TO OWN THIS BOOK!!! - If you are a fan of Grant Morrisonโs Batman, but already own other editionsโฆ or if you have never read this run beforeโฆ or if you just love Batmanโฆ YOU NEED TO OWN THIS BOOK!!! It is the BEST way to read Grant Morrisonโs Batman! This Deluxe sized book is nicely constructed with stitched binding and nice thick pages. The paper feels a slightly heavier stock and is slightly less glossy, than that of the previous hardcover editions. The color in this new omnibus also seems more vibrant as well. It has no new bonus content other than an introduction by Mike Marts. Tony Danielโs variant covers for Batman #676-#683 are now at the back of the book along with Adam Kubertโs variant cover for Batman #655. Thankfully this omnibus not only collects all the issues from โBatman & Sonโ, โThe Black Gloveโ and โBatman RIPโ but theyโve now finally included an abridged version of issues #30 & #47 from the โ52โ series. The pages included focus on Bruce undergoing the Thรถgal ritual in the caves of Nanda Parbat. These events are later brought up by Tim Drake to Alfred in Batman #676 โBatman RIPโ, and explain why Tim was concerned with Bruceโs state of mind. One of the BEST new inclusions (exclusive to this omnibus) are two brand new pages written and drawn by Chris Burnham. These new pages fill in events for โThe Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghulโ. The new pages are placed just after Batman #670 and another after Batman #671. This will save you from having to read a drawn out cross-over event, where only two of the issues were actually written by Morrison. Directly after โBatman RIPโ concludes there are two pages of excerpts from โFinal Crisesโ bracketing Batman issues #682 & #683 โFinal Crisis: Last Ritesโ. These excerpts set up the events and give actual context as to whatโs going on, rather than reading โLast Ritesโ over and over trying to figure out what was going on like I had to. The second page of โFinal Crisisโ excepts shows what happened to Batman, that set up the events for โBatman & Robin: Batman Rebornโ whereโฆ.. (((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!)))) (((((SPOILER!!!)))) Dick Grayson takes over as Batman. (((((SPOILER!!!)))) (((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!))))(((((SPOILER!!!)))) Sure this โspoilerโ is many years old, but you always have to try to think of new readers. Grant Morrisonโs Batman is not only one of my favorite Batman runs, but itโs also one of my ALL-TIME favorite comic runs as well. There are not many comic stories that I can read and re-read cover to cover. I have read this run numerous times, and can safely say that I have read it more than any other story. Sometimes Iโll even start another re-read after Iโve just finished. One of the many things I love about this run is Morrisonโs voice for Batman. He can be intimidating. He's not someone you would want to mess with, but he's also very cool. He has a likable quality. He has heart. Personally I feel there are few writers that even come close to capturing Batman and supporting characters as well as he does, especially his voice for Alfred Pennyworth. Morrison's dialog between members of the Bat-family is a pure joy to read. It's fun spending time with them. Iโm absolutely thrilled to add this omnibus to my Grant Morrison collection, and will be eagerly looking forward to the other volumes! As Iโve saiid before, if you are a Batman fan then you really do need to own this book! The story continues in Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol. 2 Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol. 3

One of the best Batman runs
This is one of my favorite Batman runs and has some of the best Batman story arc like Rip Batman and Batman inc, I didnโt like the ras al ghul arc tho.

For any Batman fan. Morrison's writing is top-notch here.
For any Batman fan. Morrison's writing is top-notch here. However, I feel the mapping could have been improved slightly for a more coherent storytelling. I understand it's difficult given this is only collecting Morrisons run. For example, Batman and the introduction to Damian don't feel like coming full circle with missing issues (Batman and the Sons), or part of the story is written separately by another team (i.e. the resurrection of Ra's al Ghul arc), thus not included here. As for the build and condition of this volume, I'm more than happy... it's gorgeous and came in mint condition.

Incredible comic storytelling
To start, Iโd say donโt start with this as a new reader. I read RIP fairly early in my collecting of Batman and actively disliked it. It depends on a lot of history and doesnโt hold your hand along the way. After years of reading under my belt though, this collection and the run in general has shot up my rankings to bear the top! The initial storyline is a really fun James Bond-esque globe trotting adventure. The Black Glove arc is a thrilling murder mystery with some of the best art Iโve seen. And RIP in the right context is absolutely incredible. On top of that, the value of these collections is incredible. Itโs so cheap, the paper quality is great and youโre getting some incredible storytelling. This is a must buy for any long time Batman fan

The book arrived in perfect condition. The art and story are amazing as it connects the history of Batman together. Due to my engrossment, I ended up finishing this very quickly and ended up ordering Final Crisis and the remaining two omnibuses afterwards. Before reading this, I highly recommend reading Batman: The Black Casebook which contains some stories from the 50s and 60s that the omnibus references. I also recommend reading Batman: Battle for the Cowl after finishing this omnibus or Final Crisis.
