It drains much faster than expected, even in low-use devices. Performance feels inconsistent, and frequent replacements are needed, making the value pack less economical than it initially appears.

👉 Excellent Shelf-Life I bought this 12-pack battery set over 2 years ago and I’ve gone through 7 of them with 5 still left. Out of curiosity, I tested the remaining ones -- they’re all still holding a solid charge of 1.6V which is actually a tad higher than the 1.5V they’re rated for. Impressive! For the record, I didn't make any effort to store them in a special way -- they're still in their original Amazon Basics box in my home office (20 degrees Celsius each day). 👉 Usage I’ve been using them in two different devices: an outdoor overhead motion sensor light and a motion sensor garbage can. The outdoor light, where batteries usually die fast due to the cold, has been running on these D-cells for a full year, including through Winter. I would have thought they'd need replacing by now but they’re still going strong. For the garbage can, which opens frequently throughout the day, the batteries last about 8 months before needing to be swapped out. 👉 Let's Be Real about Amazon Basics vs Named Brands ... We all hesitate to buy Amazon Basics vs the pricier name brands expecting to get #$@% for less money but what can i say?! Empirical evidence doesn't lie! I've had these for 2 years and so far haven't suffered from any flaws. These batteries have actually OVER-PERFORMED for their original price -- they hold a charge brilliantly and perform under varying conditions, including in Winter, bizarrely. What is extra comforting is in the rare case you do run into any problems, Amazon's customer service has always been great, in my experience, especially for their own brand. Hopefully with my experience you’re concerns about reliability and / or longevity are reduced. Good stuff, Amazon!
