Challenging install but worth it.
So Iโm just an average guy with basic knowledge and master of none of them. It was very challenging installing these due to not having a dependable wiring diagram for my 2021 F250. They vary so much based on year, model, and options. I eventually gave up and did trial and error. Here is what I learned. 1) throw away the blue splice clips, they are garbage and donโt make good connections. Even cost me time because they made me think I was on the wrong wires. I cut my wires, spliced them in by twisting them, capped, taped, and shrink wrapped. (Overkill prob but I didnโt want any issues) 2) buy a cheap multimeter from Walmart or wherever and go on YouTube to learn the absolute basics. If I can, anyone can. It will help a ton if you go the route I did with trial and error. 3) Shrink wrap your connections and a large one over where the wires leave the lights. Will protect from weather. I even bought corrugated tubing to protect the wires until they went into the cab. 4) There are many way you can prob get this done. My way is just what I did. I found a constant power with the vehicle on, a ground (although I was told making your own is better), I pulled my taillights to find the blinkers, and I found a courtesy light wire for the white light upon exit. The lights themselves are absolutely awesome. Bright, match the amber running lights, provide plenty of white light when entering and exiting, and you canโt miss the turn signal. I cleaned the surface with brake cleaner and they have not come loose at all and have been on for couple months now. If you have a wiring diagram the install will be a breeze. If you donโt, be prepared to have some patience. The difficult of the install has nothing to do with the lights. It has to do with every vehicle being different. Not even about different makes, but based on year, model, and options. If that isnโt hard enough, the wiring colors on driver side and passenger side were different. Even with the difficulty, Iโd buy them again.

Fantastic Product!
These lights work very well. I have had them for a year now and they have survived -20ยฐF in a Wisconsin winter and it didnโt even phase them. They do not flicker or dim, and they put out a lot of light. They are, however, not for the novice installer. If you try wiring these directly to your tail lights, you will most likely throw error codes on your dash. Most modern cars can sense the extra amperage draw and cause error codes. When wired properly, you will need four 12 V DC relays (one for left turn signal, one for right turn signal, one for running lights, and one more for interior cabin lights). You will need to map out your tail light wiring, and use these as triggers for the relays. You will need one more trigger wire going to your dome light circuit. All four of these relays can be powered by one external power source. Usually a fuse tapper to a heavy duty circuit in your fuse box. I promise you though, it is worth the effort! The two pictures I provided are these lights operating at dusk and the other at night. I would definitely buy these again!

Nice looking and easy to install 2012 F250
Great product. Looks fantastic. Took me about an hour to install from opening the box to completely finished. On my 2012 Ford F250 I simply ran the wire harnesses forward to the turn signal bulbs and connected one wire to the turn signal and another to the running light. The white wire went towards the back and spliced into an extension and connected to a purple wire that terminates on the frame rail near the rear of my running boards. This is the perfect spot to connect the white light because it's the timed dome light circuit that activates when you unlock or lock your doors and open the doors. The lights give a very cool two stage effect when you unlock because the the lights flash causing the turn signal to cycle once before the dome light circuit takes over. I mounted mine under the rocker panels facing downward and they were very easy to peel and stick after a good cleaning of the surface. The light strip has a " opt7" logo in the middle of the string making it a snap to center the strip between the doors. **** The adhesive tape is not 3M and has already begun to come unstuck in one spot. I will restock with better tape. The lights do not come with any sort of wire loom and your wires will be exposed to the elements you dont cover them somehow. If you use the "Scotchlok" blue wire connectors that are included in the kit make sure to strip 2-3 times the length of wire you usually would and fold it back on itself to create a thicker wire end because the harness wires are of such small gauge that otherwise it's difficult to get a good connection.

Bright!
These are brighter and much longer than the two small lights that came with the after market running boards. I chose to just use the white light, no clearance or turning signal lighting. Easy to install, cleaned the area really well, been on through winter driving and Iโve had no issues with the adhesive failing. My wiring connections were fairly easy as I only needed to tie into the wiring from the existing lights.

Lot of Problems with This Product
I looked at the instructions and multiple videos. Simple install. the unit that I received just didn't wotk as described. I waited to install it because of the Texas heat and let the return date expire. I connected the Red. Yellow and black wire as decribed in their instructions and all the videos that I watched. Here are issues... l. The sequential turn signal did not work. I get a solid turn signal, and it looks good but I ordered the sequential unit. 2. When the running light is turned on, the turn signal does not work. 3. When I connect the white wire for the courtesy light, I get a white light when I open the door. The problem is that when I leave it connected, the running light and the turn signal is also white. When I disconnect the white wire, the other lights return to yellow. I could live with the other issues, but not this one. I may try installing ir with and inline swith on the white wire and just turn it on manually. (The old fashion way.) 4. Remember my turn signal light is not sequential. Well, when I turn on the hazard lights, they are sequential. If you buy these get them installed them before the time to return runs out. (My bad.) Most of the time is spent on running the wires and finding the connects. The running lights and the turn signal are easy. The courtesy light requires finding a good schematic or trial and error with testing the wires in the door. I soldered all the connections and used heat shrink tubing. (Looking back, I would have gone with 20 AWG wire out of each of the strips.) I am an old amateur radio buff, so I learned to solder in high school radio club and I have always done any wiring this way. The heat shrink stuff is a great addition. I am disappointed in not being able to get this to work on my truck. Everything I reviewed on this showed it as a good product. I may order another one to see if I have better luck another one, but the install would happen on the day I receive It.

Excellent once mounted
Great device. Awesome quality, hopefully reary for real world use. A+ on design, use and innovation. Mounting on a running board: No Bueno. I went onto the frame with magnetic 'mounts'. Deeper set and looks great. Pictures and mounts for a future update after a good test run.

OPT7 Sidekick 78" Running Board Lights
I installed on my 2019 GMC 3500 Duramax. They look great, offer increase visibility and work as described. I opted to use all my trailer light circuits to power them instead of cutting into the factory wiring harness. Just use an "add a circuit" (available on Amazon) and plug directly into your fuse panel under the hood, if it shorts the system out for whatever reason on the road, it's just the trailer lights affected, not the truck itself. I've had them for 4 months now through a Canadian winter and they still work great! NOTE: Be sure to really clean the surface before you stick them down.
