can you use this to steam/heat up frozen left overs?

We use this steamer to cook frozen vegetables and fresh items. We have not tried any other frozen items besides vegetables though. We do cook or steam potatoes both full size and the mini, and all we do is when it runs out of water in say the first 30 minutes is add more and start process again. I hope this helps you, best advice experiment with the item but we love all its uses, from cooking to blending.
