It's ready to use right out of the box. It neck pads adjust in and out to fit various neck sizes. The angle is adjustable by sliding the upper leg assembly down towards the bottom. The adjustment device is easy to use. Simply rotate the knob to obtain the desired pressure. Pressing the button releases the pressure very quickly. Nothing gentle with the uncontrolled release. There's a cable running between the two pieces. Be careful not to bend this too tight or the cable could bind. This should not be an issue when used as prescribed. I don't like the design of the lower leg assembly. This part sits under your shoulders. I find that it digs into my body making it very uncomfortable. It needs to be flatter with some padding. The storage bag is very nice.
