The Copernicus Legacy: The Forbidden Stone, the first book in the Legacy series, is such a book and more. Wade Kaplan, a teenager with brains, is in possession of an ancient map given to him by his “Uncle Henry” when he was just a lad of seven. The map is a mystery unto itself; “a work of science, art and history.” When a cryptic email from Uncle Henry is sent to Wade’s father Dr. Roald Kaplan, Wade and his cousin Darrell want to know why it was sent and what it meant. Arriving home the trio fined unexpected guests, Lily Kaplan, Wade’s cousin and Lily’s friend Becca. Roald asks Wade to get his map; it is the key to deciphering the coded message. Using each of their strength the five manage to decrypt the email. The email tells of the kraken consuming them and that strange terrible events will begin. Uncle Henry tells Roald to find the twelve relics, protect the Magister Legacy and that he is the last. What does all that mean? Lily using her tablet notes that there are numerous tragedies and political uproar happening all over the world. Could this be what Uncle Henry meant? Roald decides to call Uncle Henry in Berlin only to find out that he is dead - coincidence? And so the adventure begins. What will they find in Berlin and where will it lead their investigation? The Copernicus Legacy: The Forbidden Stone is a well written, entertaining read for all. If you love cryptic clues, travel and adventure read this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun reading *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 2, 2014* I particularly like the beginning. I agree on a review that this is Da Vinci code for children. Still, this book offers quite a lot. First of all, the story is not based on brainless, accident-prone, emotion-driven kids' random impulsive acts (I start to get quite tired of that kind of books these days. There are just too many.) but based on an actual plot!! Also it deals with many historical and cultural events that some of them were true (so it was fun to learn). Although still somewhat shallow, the characters are developed well enough to be enjoyable. Lastly there is humor with originality (Apollo cheese! made me laughing for a whole minute). I am slightly disappointed towards the end as it all sped up and started to give an impression of a kind of 'action packed spy movie (so there goes Da Vinci for children)'. This book has a fun and captivating story. I love when history is interjected into fiction books and often find myself looking up different facts to see if they are true. Characters are well written and the emotion is real....many books in this genre touch so lightly on the emotions of the characters....i.e. loosing a family member etc....but this book does them justice. My boys age 8-15 would all enjoy this. A light read for the older boys, a fairly heavy read for the younger ones.
