I've used this composter several times since it arrived a little more than two weeks ago. I was extremely pleased with the results: food waste was effortlessly reduced to a fraction of its original size. I mixed the end product in with garden soil in my garden and greenhouse. The unit is well-constructed and solid, clearly of high quality. It operated flawlessly and lived up to all of its claims. It was oderless and quiet when in operation. I highly recommend it!

I am writing to share my feedback exactly one year after purchasing my composter. I can proudly say this is one of the best gadget additions to my kitchen. I collect all my kitchen scraps throughout the week and use the composter to provide nutrients for my outdoor raised beds and plants. This product is truly worth every penny. It was ready to use right out of the box with no additional setup required. Regarding maintenance, the unit stays so clean that it hardly needs anything more than a simple rinse. While I do replace the filters often due to my extensive use, they are incredibly powerful and ensure there are no issues with food rot smells. Overall, this is a great product, and the customer support team is on another level. I never expected to receive such excellent support. Thank you for a wonderful product and experience.

Works great! Not as big as some of the other brands but it does the work pretty well. Easy to set up, quiet and does not have the odor, it really does the work for a week's food waste that turns and produces a great dried up mixture. Now, I don't have to worry about my food waste especially during summer time when all types of insects, flies, ants, etc are actively around... Additional plus factor is the glass top that allows you to view the ongoing process. Highly recommended!

Ouaken 4L Electric Composter We purchased the Ouaken 4L Electric Composter to dispose of organic waste responsibly and to eliminate nasty odors in our kitchen. The composter is well made, integrates well in our kitchen decor, is simple to operate; the user’s manual instructions are clear & easy to read. It works quietly (we put it on at night mostly). By morning, food waste has been turned into an odorless, fine powder-like compost. So far, we’re very happy with the results.

First of all not as physically large as some of the brands out there. East, clear instructions as to operation and what and what not to place in machine. On Crush cycle, machine runs about 4 hrs and produces a great fluffy mixture. No odor so far but machine has built in compartment for charcoal like mix for odor control. Easy to clean and has cycle for bucket cleaning. Very sturdy construction. Lid is plastic with see thru top for ease of cleaning. Happy with the quality

Very happy with this "composter". However, this is not really a composter. This is a dryer/shredder. There are no blades, only crushing arms. This DOES NOT create ready to use compost. If you try to put this in your garden it will attract animals and will not fertilize until completely broken down, but it may not ever get there, as the critters will likely have eaten or dug it all up already. (I tried this, mixed with store bought compost and had that result). The output needs to be further true composted to use. I will be using a barrel type composter to finish the job. Given all of that, it is super nice to put all my kitchen compost and have it dried and broken down. I am a one person household who does cook fresh food most nights and it fills up in about 4 - 5 days. It does not smell bad, although it will have a "cooking food" type unoffensive smell while running. It is very quiet. I have this in my small open cabin and can run it at night with no problem. Two things, it will not handle very stringy things like artichoke leaves, just creates a knotted up mess, and will not break down seeds like squash, they just slip through the arms.

So I received this composter today, and just so happened to have a bowl of food scraps (potatoe/carrot peels and egg shells) from last night's dinner. I threw them in on the crunch setting around 4:15 pm thinking I could save them to use for fermenting later. I sat down to fully read the owner's manual while drinking a cup of coffee. Finished the coffee, went to check on it, and to my surprise the scraps had already been reduced to a pulp like consistency. I realized I should have probably put in some dry stuff, so paused it/filled to brim with some dry leaves (loosely chopped) that had fallen off of my corn plant. I didn't get pics of the food scraps to mulch progression, but the video is from what it looked like at around 6 pm and the pics are from 7 and 8 pm (that's agent it switched off). I will say that it probably would have chopped a little better if I had made the leaf bits smaller b/c some of them were pretty tough, but all in all it did a good job working through them. So much so that there's not enough left to ferment. I'll have to try that process after I accumulate enough to make a batch. Also, it's incredibly quiet (all you hear is an occasional crunching sound, which did get louder after I put the leaf stems in). I've tried composting outdoors, and it takes forever. Not to mention the flies/other pests that it attracts. So far, I love this product and can foresee all kinds of uses for it. I will definitely be using the compost in my houseplants, garden and on the lawn.

I have wanted an electric composter for a long time, so I did research, read customer reviews and consumer reports before settling on the Ouaken electric composter. While there are a lot of options and brands available, I chose this one because of the many positive reviews, consumer reports, good price and features other brands do not have. The 4 litre bucket size is the largest I could find within a reasonable price range. I can fit a ton of kitchen scraps into it and only have to run the composter once to clean them all up. This model also has a self cleaning feature that I did not see in any other brand. The glass top allows you to view the composting process as it happens. It's amazing how quickly a full bucket of food scraps turns into a small amount of grounds at the bottom of the bucket. The composter is easy to set up and the instruction manual informative. I would have appreciated more information on what items can and cannot be used in the composter. They do not have a website with this information, but you can email their customer service if you have a question about a specific item. They respond quickly and are helpful. I have used the composter several times on various types of food scraps and each time it took between 3 and 4 hours to process a full bucket. The compost is consistently dry, clean and finely ground. There is no offensive smell. The composter turns off automatically when the process is completed. It's best to let it cool down before opening the lid, as it gets quite hot. You also want to sit your composter where it has open space all around it, for safety, given how hot it gets. I followed the recommendation to add browns to my greens for a well balanced compost. I have been using finely shredded paper from my paper shredder and it works perfectly. I've also added used paper towels and napkins, which also worked well. The machine is extremely quiet, even at night when there is no other noise. I saw in the customer reviews that some people complained about the lid not fitting. I do not see how it can be an issue, as you just need to line up the arrow and turn the lid to open and close it. The lid fits securely and is easy to operate. I had also read some people experienced the composter jamming. If you do not put unreasonably large chunks of food in the composter, it will not jam. I have not experienced any jamming, even with a full bucket. I have avoided putting in large items like apple cores or corn cobs. I do not eat meat, so I did not try to process bones. The composter has a warranty, so don't forget to follow the instructions in the manual and register your warranty by emailing the company your Amazon order number. I do not have any concerns or complaints about the composter. It has exceeded my expectations. The only quirk I have found is that when you open the lid, the power comes on automatically. This is helpful if you are going to use the machine at the time, but if you are just putting some scraps in there for later, you have to manually turn the machine off. Not a big deal, just a quirk I noticed. Overall, I highly recommend the Ouaken electric composter with the 4 litre bucket. I wish I had gotten this sooner, when I was canning food from my garden. UPDATE: I experienced some technical difficulties with my composter, so I contacted the company for assistance. They were amazing. Initially they provided detailed instructions on how to overcome the issue, but when that did not work, they offered me a new composter, shipped immediately. I have had occasion to contact the company with other questions, and they always responded quickly and provided the information needed. Superior customer service consistently provided by Ouaken.

Il m’ont donnée le lien pour rejoindre la compagnie Ouaken. Je voulais absolument écrire à nouveau un commentaire. Nous avons communiqué par courriel. J’ai reçu une réponse dans les 24 heures. Ils sont extrêmement attentionnés à mon problème. Ils m’ont demandée une petite vidéo pour confirmer que l’appareil ne fonctionnerait pas. Ce que j’ai fait. Ensuite, j’ai pris une photo du dessous de l’appareil avec les renseignements pour ce composteur, ainsi que la facture. J’ai reçu une réponse dans les 24 heures. Après tout ça leur réponse était que l’appareil serait remplacé. Je pensais être obligée de leur retourner et je dois avouer que ça me stressait. Je pensais avoir des frais à payé. Comme je ne peux plus me passer de cette machine extraordinaire, je ne voulais pas regarder pour une autre compagnie, (et j’ai très bien fait de leur faire confiance) car elle est parfaite pour moi. Elle est dans le top 5 sur des sites d’essais d’appareils de ce genre. Elle est très, très silencieuse. Il n’y a aucune odeur. Elle est très simple à nettoyer, alors ça ne devient pas un fardeau de la laver à chacune des utilisations. En plus, elle est discrète sur le comptoir dans la cuisine. Nul besoin de la cacher à cause de son parfait design. Et comme je me disais, quand nous achetons un appareil électrique ou électronique, il peut y avoir un petit problème sur une ligne de montage surtout quand ce sont des millions d’appareils qui sortent de ces usines à chaque jour. Je confirme le professionnalisme, l’écoute et la compréhension de la compagnie Ouaken. Je suis abonnée à vie à cette compagnie.

Used for 6 months and the motor seized up. Was great when it was working. Tried turning unit with container in but will not move. Removed container and it turns freely so yes the motor seized up and definitely didn't get my moneys worth in 6 months. Don't buy.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this little machine genuinely deserves one. The Ouaken electric composter has completely changed how I deal with kitchen waste. It’s tidy, fast, and surprisingly quiet - I honestly can’t imagine going back to a regular food caddy now (which I also bought from Amazon). It reduces waste dramatically and turns it into dry, odour-free compost in just a few hours. I was sceptical at first, but it actually works exactly as described. Even onion peels and leftovers are gone by the next morning. The smell control is excellent – no weird odours at all (carbon filter system clearly does its job) Build quality is solid and it looks quite smart on the counter, not like some bulky bit of equipment you want to hide away. Our kitchen is relatively small/moderate size so it was quite important that it's not bulky. The bucket lifts out easily and can go straight in the dishwasher, which makes it very handy. I also like that it tells you when the filter needs changing. It’s quiet enough to run at night (you can barely hear it), and it doesn’t give off any heat or steam. I’ve noticed my kitchen bin hardly needs emptying anymore, which feels great from both a convenience and environmental point of view. To conclude, it does exactly what it promises, and does it brilliantly. Super easy to use, very clean, no smell, no fuss. If you cook regularly and care about reducing waste, this is a fantastic buy.
