Formatted weirdly, but great book.
This book is typeset weirdly, with text nearly bleeding into the margins and having to read from the top of the page to the bottom - quite literally. I assume this was done either from the original or to cut down on the cost of paper, as this is a relatively cheap copy of Leaves of Grass. The book is well-deserving of its highly esteemed 'classic' edition and I found myself just reading it long after I thought I was going to put it away. Anyone looking to get into classic poetry should read this book. It's interesting that the book came across as an idea to beat old European poets as America was not known for it, which probably gives you a sense that Walt Whitman was the first 'true' American poet. Plus, for Breaking Bad fans, this is the book to buy!

Just donโt leave it on top of the toilet.
Great book. Although my brother-in-law found it on top of my toilet and itโs got me into all sorts of trouble. W.W

Poems are beautiful but this edition is no so much
I donโt know what I expected from a book with this price tag. Should have known better than to expect a leather-bound hardback :-) Itโs just a cheap copy of those 200 copies that were made in 1855. After reading it for a while the book became warped and wouldnโt even stay closed. Iโm really disappointed. Though I want to emphasise that Iโm only talking about this particular edition and not about the Walt Whitman work itself.

Okay
Not really worth the effort. A great collection of poems but a far from impressive paperback binding. At least itโs the same design as the original hardback.

The book has no structure, titles or indexing
No ability to define where one poem starts or ends, as no titles or structure is present. A poor reprint from the internet.

Notebook format, easy to carry, poor quality front print but overall I've bought it for the poetry.

Whitman celebrates his life, life in general, and our country. Uplifting.

a classic poetry book every bookshelf should have

Bad copy of a book even the cover is paper. Cheaply photocopied. Not an actual book.

Someone complained that this wasn't a copy of Leaves of Grass and just a poem called "Song of Myself", when in fact that is the expected content of Leaves of Grass. That's it. And it's in the book indeed.
