A.O.D to me is the weakest moment in the series. The only reason I have given the TV series 4 stars instead of 5 is it has one or two moments where the comedy goes too far and just isn't very funny at all. The fight with the colon monster in the morgue for one. Yes I said that right and you didn't misread it. Ash has a prolonged fight with a reanimated bodies internal organ that comes to life. Some viewers might like this scene. But I found it not funny. That's comedy I guess. It can be subjective.The show as a whole is really entertaining. Once I started on the Seasons 1 to 3 box set I had it all done within a couple of days. It really kept me glued to it. I like Season 1 best as it returns to the cabin where everything began. And Ash's sister Cheryl makes an appearance. She's great in this. Kind of creepy at times. Like one scene where Ash talks to his deadite sister outside (before blamming her with the shotgun). He said to her about how she locked him in the trunk of a car and wouldn't let him out when he was a kid. You see she takes joy in that memory. You see her turn her head slightly and give a sort of quick nod. I found that creepy. Lucy Lawless was also great as Ruby. I prefer the first incarnation of the Ruby character.The show expands the Evil Dead universe nicely. Adds depth to the characrers and backstory. I did laugh quite a few times. Mostly due to Campbell's one liners. They are some belters he fires out. Especially in Ruby's final scene in season three. He mocks her then utters a great line I can't post here through censorship then he turns and runs away. I think there is another line where a deadite says something to him about kissing him or something while she's attacking him. He comes back with "Fat ******* chance!" then retaliates in the attack against him.This is the Blu-ray set I have. It all works perfectly on my PS3. A certain review on here said they had 4 different box sets and it still didn't play right. If anyone has difficulty with playback. Then it's down to the device the discs are being played on. Blu-ray is known to have playback issues with some machines. So a firmware update is required. If it can't be obtained then the device won't be able to play said disc properly. It doesn't matter if other discs work. Some discs don't due to firmware. This is an issue not everyone thinks of or remembers. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's a bit like Marmite - do you love it or hate it?! From the days when I remember you could only rent the original film from under the counter in a brown paper bag! - having been declared a video 'nasty' - now comes the series in 30 mins Eps ( nett 26-7 mins) format! Bruce Campbell and many of the Raimi 'family' of actors and a few surprises are to be seen here. Great one liners as only The CHIN can deliver in his very unique fashion - expect laughable OTT Gore - Edgy one-liners (very un-PC at times!) - exceptional prosthetics for the 'demons' (and human dead 'uns), PLENTY of the RED STUFF, explosions, gunfire and prosthetic chainsaw action! - buy for £15 (incl del) - you will not be disappointed! Season 3 awaits tonight - if I don't wake up the house with laughter! Just go ahead and ENJOY!
