DC: The New Frontier: DC Compact Comics Edition

For those who love the digest/book sized series, this is worth EVERY PENNY. I was a huge fan of Darwyn Cooke before he passed away. He put out one of the best stories ever.

Great book, great story and blend of golden age dc moving into the silver age. A timeline with no reboots.

These pocket editions are a great bang for the buck. These are for those who want to enjoy the stories without the hassle of having to collect the individual issues.

9/10 for me. An amazing story and a perfect book for those just getting into comics. The book features many superhero’s and takes place before the formation of the justice league.

Perfect comforting. Would definitely buy again.

If you like retro, this graphic novel is a sharp and colorful masterpiece. It is light in places and very heavy in others. A few pages capture the respectful nature of Superman and Batman in a way I enjoyed. A great read full of superheroes.

I love Darwyn Cooke’s art and that’s why I bought this book. His writing and plotting however is awful. The opening story with Batman was done very cool, then goes absolutely nowhere including no conclusion to the story. He tries to incorporate many, many characters, too many that I didn’t care annything about overlooking all the main cool ones you’d actually want to see like Hawkman (missing), The Atom (missing) and others, over the course of many years and it’s way too much for him to take on. How he turned the Green Lantern story into a tedious boar-fest was a feat. All in all, very lame and not worth slugging through. If he would have stuck to a few basic stories, almost no Superman here, he would probably have had more luck. What he needed was a good writer so he could have just focused on the art. Big boring disappointment and it’s really too bad because I do love his art.

Really excellent story and art at a very good price. It's too bad they shrunk it down, but at these prices you really can't complain. Sometimes the text boxes are a bit hard to read because of the smaller print, but that's to be expected. Cooke loved this book and it shows. He's a master of the medium and puts 90% of the current comic writers and artists too shame.

Arrived looking exactly like the photos, very good comic for beginners to DC, and great illustrations.
