Open the battery compartment and there is an on/off switch. Flip the switch and it disables the hold function. To change the operating mode, flip the toggle switch inside the battery compartment up or down. In Basic Mode, the weight locks on the display when stable and the scale turns off after 60 seconds of inactivity.
