I cant find my instructions.** A: DO NOT USE DISH SOAP. Most consumer detergents are not neutral and can leave residue that may contact your stylus, or who knows, even chemically alter the polymer. If warm water and gentle scrubbing of the surface aren’t working, select a specialty soap like the stuff used to wash silk garments that’s marked as fully neutral. If you live in an area with hard water, use bottled distilled water to avoid mineral deposits when the polymer air dries. With this approach, I have had some Onzow cleaners last over 5 years. **Q: what is the "space-age polymer bubble? if it's a sticky substance, why would a light touch of blu-tac, silly putty or similar not work?** A: I think the problem would be that the bubble is a polymer membrane, and anything sticky you might use would fill the pores that the needle lightly pierces. When you remove the needle the debris should be trapped in the polymer. But if the pores are filled it defeats the functioning. Also a others note, you might pick up some of the blue tack etc on the needle. I have had one for more than a decade, and a gentle wash now and then with a drop of mild dish soap works fine. **Q: I have a Technics direct Drive tunable . Can you push the gel pad against the stylus instead of vice versa, since the arm is automatic ?** A: I too have a Technics Direct Drive Turntable and what I do is: 1. Turn off the turntable power, 2. Set the stylus cleaner up on the turntable's platter, 3. Rotate the platter to line up the cleaner with the stylus and, 4. Manually bring the tone arm down onto the cleaner and pressing until the stylus makes a significant dent in the surface of the clearer casing. I think pressing the stylus down on the cleaner gives me better results than raising the cleaner up under stylus. **Q: How different Oznow from other polymer gels? Like the ones that are toys, or used to clean keyboards, etc.? Those are cheap and also washable.** A: I have the zero dust and like it a lot, Id say the zero dust is actually much softer then the toys that stick their way down a window. The first few times I used it (admittedly not that often), I can't say I heard any difference and I figured I'd ripped myself off; OK, lesson learned. However, yesterday, after not using my turntable for a few days, I put on a record I know by heart, and it was distorted all over the place; cleaning the record with a record brush made no difference—it still sounded terrible. Worse, I put on a different record and I was still getting ugly distortion coming out of my speakers. The last time my turntable started sounding like that was a few years ago, when I wound up replacing the needle and cartridge, broke my tone arm's wiring while replacing the cartridge because I'm incompetent and overall had my turntable out of commission for two months. I couldn't SEE any difference to the needle, even with a magnifying glass, but as a last-ditch effort to avoid the problems I had last time, I tried that stupid stylus cleaner I bought a while ago—AND IT WORKED! So, whatever misgivings I might have had for the product before, man, I take them back. It worked, saved me buying a new needle and the ensuing shop costs (because I wasn't going to replace it myself again, given what happened last time) and I was back to listening to records, distortion-free.
