That is simply not true. As you can see in my pictures, the drill holes have metal guides and I found the accuracy to be spot on. I found this guide to be way better than using a cheap plastic template. Most everything is solid aluminum and perfect fitting. The only items in plastic are the guide holes, but they too fit rigidly and allow for accurate placement and drilling. It comes with a storage pouch to keep all of the parts together.As with any guide, be sure your settings are correct and that your set screws are tight. Remember than many drawers are NOT the same size. Always double check your measurements before drilling. I found the best way to use this guide is to put it on with a small protective clamp to hold it in place. That way you just have to focus on drilling and not holding it with your other hand.My steps for pulls:1. Place painters tape at the very top of drawer (to mark center). Place another piece of tape across expected drill areas to minimize splintering.2. Measure center of drawer and mark it on the tape at the top.3. Line up the guide at the mark at the top. The guide has a mark for the center.4. Assuming you already measured your screw positions for the pull, place a clamp to hold guide in place with top of guide resting on top of drawer face.5. Double check everything6. Drill each hole.7. Remove clamp and guide.8. Done! You should now have 2 perfectly placed drill holes for your pull.For knobs, you need to figure out your placement depending upon your preferred style (i.e. modern, classic or traditional) and then use the plastic edge guide (not used for a pull) to line up your guide. Again, use a clamp to hold it in place. Always double check that the guide in in the correct position...and then drill away. Flip the guide around to have the same exact positioning for the opposite side door.I found this guide to be perfect for the home do-it-yourself'er. It is way cheaper than the TP unit and does the same exact thing. Over 20 knobs and 10 pulls were installed with accurate placement in my kitchen. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ All you need to accurately install cabinet knobs and pulls *by W***O on January 13, 2019* I rehab houses, which usually means new cabinets and vanities. I have installed hundreds of knobs and pulls. I wish I had found this tool sooner. Before this tool I was using the plastic guides you find at the big box stores. This tool is more versatile. Instead of drilling the holes by inserting the drill bit through the drill guides, I use a 3/16" transfer punch to make a pencil point mark on the cabinet. This is the same diameter as the guide tool's metal sleeve. A transfer punch has the same diameter throughout the length of the shaft, as opposed to a center punch that is tapered. I then remove the tool and use a brad point drill bit to drill the holes. Using this method, I am able to eyeball my punch marks on the cabinet, and verify accuracy before actually drilling the hole. If I have made an error, the punch mark is so small it would not be noticed, and I can correct my error. Also, I am not trying to hold the guide tool and drill at the same time. Further, there is no chance of the drill bit damaging the guide tool metal sleeve. Using a brad point drill bit, I can get the drill point exactly on top of my punch mark, and don't have to worry about the drill bit wandering when I start drilling. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice product *by C***P on January 3, 2025* Well made product, comes with nice carrying case.
