Second edition, completely revised, of the only English translation of Kepler's 1609 masterpiece. A work of astonishing originality, Astronomia Nova stands, with Copernicus's De Revolutionibus and Newton's Principia as one of the founding texts of the scientific revolution. Kepler revolutionized astronomy by insisting that it be based upon physics rather than ideal geometrical models. Review: I was overjoyed to see that the book lived up to my ... - I have been looking for Kepler's Astronomia Nova for a couple of years, but was unable to find them in English (Donahue's first edition being exceedingly expensive). I tried to dive into Astronomia Nova as much as I could by reading Donahue's Selections, Stephenson's Kepler's Physical Astronomy and scans of the original 1609 edition available online (even though I don't read Latin!). So, it was with enormous anticipation that I opened the huge package from desertcart yesterday. I was overjoyed to see that the book lived up to my expectations! It is very faithful to the 1609 edition, stating with the size! It also features all of Kepler's margin annotations in place, large and readable diagrams that are repeated several times so that the reader doesn't have to flip pages when following an explanation, as in the original, and the original diagrams which have meaningful decorations are reproduced as well. So I feel that I can finally access the 1609 edition! Donahue has also added a nice introduction, exploring some historical context and giving a good primer that will help the reader understand Kepler's work. In short, an amazing book! Review: Just what I was looking for to help explain Kepler's ... - Just what I was looking for to help explain Kepler's discoveries. Seeing the details math calculations from Kepler's days alone is worth the purchase.

Great scientists at work
Kepler and Tyco Brahe relate to Newton, similar to Faraday's relation with James Maxwell Clerk. They provide the data while the mathematical masters interpret the meaning. Two of the most important collaborations in the history of mankind.

Una sorpresa. Ottimo.
In conclusione, 45 euro li vale fino all'ultimo centesimi.

Demonstration of the genius of Kepler. His use and correction of existing observational data from Tycho and the examination of the reasoning of Copernicus moves the acceptance of natural science forward.

Great book in reasonably well condition
Great book by a great person and also translated exquisitely. The condition in which I received the book was OK (a bit torn near the bottom of the spine but otherwise no issues).
