Can the massager be placed high up on the neck near the skull to get those super tight muscles?

Yes, the massager can easily be placed high up on the neck -- and up the rest of the head or down the back. You may want to adjust the speed level if it's too intense. Regardless, I've never had a massage therapist who could get that deep without tiring very quickly. Via the massager!
