I am sure that in the realm of shock and dirt protection, it will work fine. But being listed as "waterproof" to all of 7" (200mm), doesn't give me much hope should I fall into a stream...But being "rainproof", it should do alright.I took a series of photos, using the same scene, both with the Ipod removed from the Griffin Survivor, and installed. These photos were taken in an environment where the flash was needed (indoors), and outside. I noted a VERY NOTICEABLE degradation of the photos when the Ipod was inside of the Griffin case. The degradation was MOST EXTREME when comparing the flash photos!If you want good quality pictures, you need to remove the Ipod from the Griffin case.....And this is something that none of us are going to do unless it is planned for in advance. And then, you won't be using the Griffin Case at all, because removing the Ipod, then having to reinstall it, for that momentary photo, is TOO MUCH of a pain in the butt!Operating the Touch controls, and viewing through the protective plastic was very good, no complaints there. I am very disappointed in the photo degradation. Yes it has its drawbacks. It's not completely waterproof. Its feel is a bit flimsy it looks not rugged but once you put your itouch in this case you'll see how comfortable it is to hold. How there are no problems with the touch screen. Highly recommended! It's not a case you should throw around like in the samsonite luggage commercial, but it can protect against light falls and bunks and even light rain. 5 Stars!
