Excellent cheaper discs
I do an awful lot of sanding in my job woodworking and as such I am always on the hunt for good value but well performing sanding discs; I saw these ones listed so thought I'd give them a go. The discs are packaged in a slim but sturdy cardboard box with a flip up lid - I like this as it makes them easier to store - most budget friendly discs are shrink wrapped so fall about loosely upon opening. The discs are surprisingly robust. the backing paper is thick and the P80 markings are very clear on it along with safety symbols - this is especially helpful when reusing discs as oftentimes on discs where the printing is more faint they become illegible which is a nuisance when looking for a particular grit amongst half used discs. The abrasive is aluminium oxide, and the disc is very well and evenly coated - it feels sharp; the hook and loop fixings on the back are well made and not the type that you can barely feel. In use the discs affix to the platte of my sander extremely well - they are on tight so all movements are transferred straight on to the surface you are sanding which is good for making progress. The abrasive cuts really well and while it does breakdown with use, it does so much more slowly than any other cheaper disc I can remember: the discs stay sharper for longer. The extraction holes are exactly where they should be so when hooked up to an extractor dust is kept to a minimum. I'm very impressed with these discs and will order them again - at a fiver for 15 they are slightly above the typical budget price point but perform better than the average cheap disc does.

Quite good disks - do the job, work well.
These are quite good standing disks - I've used a few of them now and the have worked without issue. I have two sanding machines - one is a converted angle grinder and does not have the corresponding holes in its pad. I mention this because the angle grinder is so much more powerful and spins much faster than a conventional sander and these disks seem to hold up to that pretty well. With these disks accidentally sanding over a nail is a little more likely to result in an unscheduled rapid disassembly of the disk - I think it's because of the holes; the nail catches in a hole and, poof! the disk has gone. This isn't a very common occurrence however and using them under these circumstances is a little unfair. In a proper sanding machine with corresponding holes, they last a decent amount of time, dust removal is good (at least as good as the disks that came with the machine) and they do a good job. The velco works well and the disks are nice and sticky - haven't had one fly off yet. My pic does not show the whole box of disks because I had used some before it occurred to me to photograph them. I didn't get a pic of a used one before I threw them away. (nts: Must try harder.) I have successfully sanded a whole staircase (in a modern house - so not that many layers, and no tarry or dangerous paint) with a combination of my two machines using these disks. I have noticed that very slightly more sandy grit seems to fly off these disks, so I strongly recommend a full face mask and possibly additional eye protection under that. Happy with these - I'd buy again.

Good value for money and 15 discs go a long way
This review is for the Toowood 5 Inch With 8 Holes Dustless Hook-and-Loop Circular Sanding Discs Sandpapers £4.99 at the time of review 15 pieces arrive in a plain cardboard box and no plastic in sight which is great. They stuck to the sanding plate well and worked as well as any other 80 grit sanding discs I’ve used in the past. The quality feels good and they are as thick as others I have so they compare well. They work out at 33P per disc. A quick search on Amazon shows you can buy double the amount that cuts the cost to 23P per disc, or for £4 more you can get 50 that drops the per disc price to 18P per disc. You can also spend more money to get the same amount of discs, so search carefully. If you only need a few 80 grit discs, then this pack is a good buy because it costs less than £5 so won’t break your budget. If you need a lot discs, then you can get more for a few pounds more, so it comes down to how many you need and how much you are willing to spend. I think these discs are good value for money and they work well, so 5 stars from me and recommended, especially if you only need a few. On the other hand, if you think you might need more than 15 discs then shop around – but 15 discs go a long way.

Good discs, not great value for money (currently £5 for 15)
These are currently £5 for 15 discs, which is not great value for money. You could spend twice as much and get 4 to 5 times more discs, but if you rarely use 80 grit, then it could be false economy. Despite the value for money, they are good discs, but I can’t say that they are better than any I have tried. They do the job they are designed for and do it well. I use a lot of discs when I am on a renovation project as it usually entails removing years of paint and varnish. I also use a fair few with my hobby or restoring old cars. 80 grit is ideal for removing pitted surface rust before finishing with higher grits. I did have some clogging on one disc, but to be fair, it was on a varnished mantle and was of a type that would clog anything. A few of them shredded, but again, I have had the same effect with other makes when bumping a sharp edge or sanding a particularly sharp surface. Other than value for money, these were good discs and gripped well on my sander.

Generic Random Orbit Sander discs
These are fairly generic Random Orbit Sander discs in 125mm in 80 grit Aluminium Oxide. They are backed with the usual hook and loop method for easy installation and removal. Sanding performance is as would be expected for an 80 grit disc. Be careful though, the advert shows a huge pile of discs (around 50), but the description says only 15. You will only receive 15 discs. I've marked down for the misleading advert.
