Great escapism, just immerse yourself, the special effects are brilliant

I love this film and can't wait for the sequel but watching it in 3d is definitely better. There isn't much 3d out of the screen, but the depth is really good and the car race to the first key is one of the best 3d experiences I have seen in a movie. I have an xgimi aura ultra-short throw projector - with a 110" screen size - so not sure how this would look on a smaller screen / tv. But is a great film and one to watch over and over.

Wasn’t sure what to expect as hadn’t really heard or seen much about the film. Don’t know anything about the book so can’t make any comparison. As a film it was fast paced and kept my attention throughout. Overall effects and 3D were excellent and overall a hugely enjoyable film. Took me back to my childhood really can’t say anything negative about just a hugely enjoyable film.

I totally dislike video games and this is movie that worships their history. HOWEVER it is a good 3d movie with lots of action and a good plot. So even if you hate video games , this movie will entertain you. get the 3d version. The 3d blu ray looks great and really carries though on your tv.

Started watching this on a streaming service in 2D and though it would be well suited to 3D, looked on Amazon and lo and behold there it was. The effects in 3D are superb, loved the King Kong part at the start, Highly recommended to all those ageing gamers, who like me enjoy the 80s soundtrack.

Really enjoyed this movie. It's not like anything ive watched before but does have the usual common thread of the underdog coming out on top. Set in the not so distant future where everyone prefers to be in the VR world and who could blame them. Awesome special effects, a good story and loads of throwbacks to old school gaming and a soundtrack that will bring you right back to the 80s. Our unlikely heroes in this movie are a bunch of misfits who perhaps in the real world wouldn't get a second glance but in the virtual world they make a team to be reckoned with. Loads of instantly recognised characters from other movies as well..my favourite line of the movie has got to be "its f#$!ing Chucky" 😁😂😂

Loads of fun. Fan of the book and although it differs in a few set pieces and plot twists the fact that the writer was involved with the screenplay makes the changes go down easier. A demo-worthy film in virtually every way. 3D delivers.

Vorweg, ich habe bisher nur den Film gesehen und nicht das gleichnamige Buch dazu gelesen und kann daher keine Vergleiche zwischen Buch und Film ziehen. Mit READY PLAYER ONE meldet sich Steven Spielberg nach 13 Jahren im Science-Fiction Genre zurück. Und das mit einer Verfilmung die einfach zu überzeugen weiss. Nachdem gleichnamigen Buch von Ernest Cline beschreibt er hier eine nahe und düstere Zukunft in der sich die Menschen oftmals in einem Multiversum bewegen um der harten Realität zu entfliehen. Die OASIS ist eine virtuelle Welt die von dem Game Designer James Donovan Halliday erfunden und programmiert wurde. Nach seinem Tod 2040 hat er in der virtuellen Welt ein Easter Eegg versteckt das dem der es findet nicht nur die Kontrolle über die OASIS übergibt sondern auch Hallidays Vermögen erben lässt. READY PLAYER ONE ist eine sehr bunter Verfilmung. Auch weil sich ein großteil der Geschichte innerhalb der virtuellen Welt abspielt und diese, im Gegensatz zur realen Welt im Film, quitschbunt ist. So bietet der Film eine menge Schauwerte und zugleich viel Nostalgie wenn z.B. der DeLorean aus Zurück in die Zukunft auftaucht oder viele andere Anspielungen auf die 80er oder 90er Jahre folgen. Im Film sind einige bekannte aber noch mehr eher unbekannte Gesichter zu sehen, wenigstens für mich. Zu den bekannten Gesichtern gehören sicherlich Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn und Letitia Wright. In den Hauptrollen sind u.a. Tye Sheridan und Olivia Cooke zu sehen, die für mich bisher unbekannte Gesichter gewesen sind. Alle Schauspieler können in ihren Rollen überzeugen und sind perfekt besetzt. Der Film macht Spass und das obwohl die hier bespielte Zukunft ja eher düster ist. Doch man bekommt zwar ein paar wenige Bilder von der realen Welt im Film des Jahres 2045 zu sehe doch ein Großteil des Films spielt sich in der virtuellen Welt statt und die reale Situation im Film bleibt eher im Hintergrund. Aber vielleicht macht der Film auch gerade deshalb Spass. Das Steelbook ist ein Hingucker und es gibt einen gleich einen nostalgischen Vorgeschmack auf das was einen mit dem Film erwartet. Ich habe nicht so viele aber doch einige Steelbooks aber das hier ist defintiv das schönste. In dem Steelbook findet man zwei Discs, eine mit dem Film auf 4K und eine mit dem Film auf Blu-ray. Nicht alle, aber die meisten Filme von Steven Spielberg sind für mich Must See Filme. Und die meisten habe ich auch auf DVD oder Blu-ray. Und READY PLAYER ONE gehört dazu. Ein toller Film mit einer spannenden Story und unglaublich faszinierenden Bildern.

Bild und Ton sind absolut next Level und auf Referenz-Niveau! Die Dolby Atmos Spur ist atemberaubend! Der Film ist natürlich auch super, kann man immer wieder mal schauen!
