This is my 5th year of buying mcafee software and it is simple to install without the need to delete the old software before installing the new. Has protected my pc’s well so far.

If you need yearly protection of your PC then this is a great buy. It’s easy to download and install. You can run scans of your computer and have a constant virus scanner. You also get a VPN to avoid trackers. Reasonably good price too.

I bought this product and it and from start to finish I have had problems. After I downloaded it, I ran a scan, but my laptop kept restarting after it was only 50% (approx) through the scan. I got in touch with McAfee and at the beginning they were very helpful. They asked if they could remotely take control of my laptop so they could identify the issue. I agreed. The operator was doing something with my windows (think trying to update it) but then the laptop done an automatic restart (we were disconnected). I got in touch with the operator again and informed them that we had been disconnected due to my laptop restart. They once again took remote control and again it done a restart disconnecting us! I again got in touch, but it took me ages to get through to someone on their helpline. They kept sending me emails saying that my Service Request number would be closed if I didn't get in touch. I have tried and tried but to no avail!! The customer care has been really really poor and I now have a laptop now that just continues to restart all the time (not even when I conduct a scan) and I cant even switched it on. My laptop is now completely useless!! I would strongly advice against buying this product for 2 reasons: 1. The scan wouldn't run and ended up damaging my laptop (if you have downloaded this product please try and run a scan). 2. The customer care has been woeful and extremely difficult to get in touch with almost impossible. Please stay away from this product!

I had been using Kaspersky Internet Security for nearly 15 years. Russia's invasion of Ukraine, coupled with Eugene Kaspersky's ambiguous stance on that invasion, has made me re-examine my use. Quite simply, I do not trust Russia not to weaponize Kaspersky Internet Security I and stripped it out of both my computers even though I had 10 months left to run on my subscription. I was in need of a replacement and McAfee seemed the best. It is easy to install and to run. A full scan takes slightly longer than Kaspersky, but in day-to-day use it is fast and efficient. It does not offer Kaspersky's "Safe Money" feature, but I can live without that. Its VPN feature is a bit more flexible than Kaspersky's. It updates regularly and painlessly and highlights vulnerabilities in a reassuring way. Kaspersky may have moved its main servers out of Russia, but its coprorate direction still comes from there and after all, Eugene Kaspersky was an officer in the KGB before he turned his hand to commercial antivirus. I feel more reassured with McAfee on my computers.

I hate the annual renewing my subscription. The price to renew is double/treble the cost of buying new. For the last few years I have paid full price and then rung up and asked them to refund the difference, which they have done, but it is a time consuming business. This time, I bought from Amazon at a fraction of the price. They sent me a keycode instantly by email which was easy to enter if you have a McAfee account and click on 'Redeem your Retail Card' and follow the instructions. I followed the instructions which didn't represent what appeared on the screen. Why would I immediately want to upgrade? Typical McAfee, never make it easy. Why all the adverts? Finally, I got success. Then I tried to protect a tablet and had a choice. Download for Windows or download for a phone. It is an Android tablet, so I selected the phone option and got a message telling me the software was incompatible with the machine I am trying to download to. I tried the windows option and got the same message. My McAfee accounts tells me the tablet is covered, and one day on from my old subscription expiring, I can still access McAfee on my tablet and I cannot find that it doesn't work, so maybe I am covered on both. I am not exactly computer savvy and way beyond retirement age. The product appears to work properly and if it does, is good value for money. If Amazon can do this why can't McAfee?
