I switched to Simpler Hair Color last month after having ongoing problems with quality control of another brand, and I'm extremely happy with the performance of this product. Great things: - Easy to apply: I find the integrated developer dispenser and brush applicator easy to control and much less messy than glove-only application. (I still use gloved hands to make sure I've reached everywhere.) The consistency is quite thick, almost like a paste, and does not drip or splatter. - Long-lasting: When they say permanent, they mean permanent. Switching from a demi-permanent dye, I was surprised by the complete lack of fading. Only roots need re-application, so I think the cost/coverage should be similar even though I have less product than the previous dye I used. - Looks good: This is a penetrating dye and looks natural rather than like a exterior coating. Cautions: - Darker than I expected: Despite equivalent color names, this came out a touch more saturated than my previous product (or perhaps this is just the lack of wash fading). - Somewhat harsher on the hair: You can't adjust the amount of developer used, and it definitely affects the texture of your hair. I noticed I'm more prone to knots and kinks before treatment.

I’m a 63 y/o male who like many men whose hair went totally white at 62 y/o wasn’t happy considering, it just didn’t go with how I looked or felt. I decided I’d try a drug store brand hair dye. It was a complete disaster, it had a horrible ammonia smell, caused scalp and face burning, and redness. On top of that I ended up getting a migraine headache. So, in June 2024 I sent an email to the customer care team and within 30 minutes got a thorough response. I had lots of questions and ended up sending several emails before deciding to give them a try. I received my color box promptly even though it was delivered via USPS. I opened the package and noticed everything was in order with clear instructions and the opportunity to view them on U Tube. The contents of the box came with a color comb, gloves, alcohol pad, and gel packet to protect the skin if you got color on it. I applied the product, which as their name implies, was very simple to apply, using the nifty color comb made it a breeze. I noted that unlike the other color brand, there was no horrible smell, burning or redness and no migraine afterward. Once applying the color and noting the amazing results, I realized that this was very doable and since then I’ve been a loyal customer. Simpler Color is a serious company that holds up to the highest expectations one could ever expect, not just with the excellence of their products, but with the exceptional level of customer care and service. The representation of the product and concern they offer to their customers is phenomenal. I sincerely mean that, if there are ever any questions regarding their product, delivery or any other concerns or situations that may arise, dealing with their product, delivery support or anything else, you will not have to worry about it, because they will have you covered. I strongly recommend Simpler Color to anyone desiring a product that works without the ill affects you may experience with drug store brands, and who are ready to leave the white or gray hair behind. Now that Simpler Color has expanded to offer their products via Amazon, I can say that I’m thoroughly excited about that, since being an Amazon Prime member I received my order to my front door in two days; whereas using USPS it would always be a week or more.

Horrible experience—this product caused a severe reaction on my face. I applied it around 7:00 pm exactly according to the directions. I left it on for 25 minutes, then rinsed it off in the shower with soap and water. At about 3:30 am, I woke up with intense burning in my beard/mustache area. My bottom lip had swollen to about twice its normal size and felt numb. I immediately tried washing again with soap and water, but it didn’t help. Soon after, I saw yellowish fluid oozing from my skin. That’s when I realized this wasn’t a minor irritation—it was getting serious fast. I shaved off all facial hair to try to remove any remaining product, but I still had to dab the fluid off my skin constantly; it would run down my chin and drip. I ended up seeking medical care. The doctor prescribed prednisone and an antibiotic cream and warned me about the risk of infection. This wasn’t just uncomfortable—it disrupted my life. I lost a half day of work and missed a family event. I’m on day 3 as I write this and I’m still dealing with inflammation, numbness and oozing in multiple areas. I have to wear a face mask with a medical pad underneath just to be able to return to work. At least three layers of skin have peeled off in my beard area, and I honestly don’t know yet whether I’ll be able to regrow my beard/mustache. I have no known allergies, so this reaction was a first for me. The manufacturer was going to issue a refund, but I don’t see that yet. I also replied back with photos showing how serious this was—and explaining that medical treatment was required—I never heard back. If you’re considering this product, please be extremely cautious. My experience was frightening, painful, and far beyond what anyone should expect from a consumer product used as directed.

This kit is perfect for EVERYONE, and I use it to cover roots. It does well on coverage and I love the reusability most of all. This is the best-kept secret to covering gray, and it is so quick and easy to apply. The kit comes with useful application tools-far more than any other box dye. It's worth the expense, it does the job, and doesn't have much of an odor.

I have been using this for about 2 years off and on. Some applications bottles work great will others have NOT. It's a miss or hit with them. The dye is very easy to apply. The dye only last about 2 weeks . For stubborn gray hairs I leave the dye for 30 minutes. I have to say my beared feel softer and shiny the first few days.

Great product, applicator is nice, I used to use their 1st gen product of this, where you had to mix the two in a bowl and apply, and this is way nicer. The color is good, and I find that about 25 minutes works for keeping just a hint of grays and not having one just solid color throughout my beard.

I've been greying for 15 years during which time I've used JustForMen 6-8 times whenever my vanity got the better of me. I remember the predictable results I received, wherein the grey was gone, and I accepted the irritation that came with each application as the price of admission. I struggled through and persevered each time, though my skin remained dry, scratchy, and flaky beneath the hair for as long as I wore the beard. Eventually I came to terms with aging and left it natural (and increasingly grey) whenever I grew it out; which in time I just stopped doing altogether. So, three weeks ago, when Instagram started showing me ads from Simpler which proclaimed "NO PPDs", I thought, "Surely that was the problem I was having with JFM right?!"; some kind of chemical irritation, there might yet be hope for me to grow out my beard without immediately adding 10 years to my physical appearance. "NO PPDs!" So, I eagerly ordered Medium Brown and tried a test patch behind my ear as suggested; three days later saw no reason not to go ahead and apply, expecting good results without the discomfort. What I wasn't counting on was an overall reaction to this product when applied in earnest far worse than I'd ever experienced with JFM, a reaction that would leave me painfully bloated, broken out in hives and a rash, burning like mad, and clawing at my face in an agonizing itch. I was disappointed with the coverage- nothing like what I saw in all the videos and testimonials I'd watched.) -Right: Around 1am that night, when I couldn't sleep and could bear the BURNING and ITCHING no longer, I shaved the whole beard off to find my face in this state; this was 7hrs before CVS opened Sunday morning so I could get some antihistamines (of which I had none on hand, and then came to offer no relief). Finally I took myself to local Urgent Care for a steroid shot and a week's worth of Prednisone. . -THIS VAIN ENDEAVOR WAS LOSE/ LOSE, even after Amazon refunded my purchase price, I was left with the other expenses (above), and I heard NOTHING back from Simpler after my attempt at contact (the only avenue I could find to get to them directly through Amazon was the Leave Seller Feedback page.) . Maybe I have sensitive skin, but this seems excessive. This beard colouring attempt was a disaster. BE CAREFUL or BEWARE .

Easy to use however the main issue to buy this product with expensive amounts compared to other similar and much cheaper products WAS THE ALLERGY !!!! It’s not working and from the first use the irritation continued for 5 days until I used the anti allergic lotion
