Using a wet spray like this is good for cleaning contacts that are oxidizes yes. But if it's full of fluff get that out first with compressed air and a non conductive tool or that will form a wet mass in the port

Can i use this product to clean copper wires that have oxidised/corroded?

Yes but you may still need to rub with wire wool if it's in a particularly bad state.

Will this help to cure an intermittent fault on an amp where the rotary volume control fails to work from the remote.

I have a lot of faith in this stuff. The fact that your issue is with a remote control volume pot is neither hear nor there! Using it manually if there is a crackle at a certain "point on the dial" it'll probably help. You'll have to pull the knob off so you can access the spindle and then just spray in small quantity on the shaft letting in soak through. give it a few minutes and then firmly twist the volume control up and down through it's full range. I have tried contact cleaner on a car fusebox with corroded plug connectors that wont come free to no effect. Is this likely to be more effective?

It may as good for cleaning contacts but will not dissolve corrosion. Possibly wd40 may be a solution.
