Item The Morton Curing Salt (Tender Quick) 2-pack arrived right on time and was packaged extremely well. Both bags were sealed inside an extra protective plastic layer, which I really appreciated. When I took them out, I could already feel that the salt inside each package was loose and fresh. I used one bag to cure venison in a corning brine, and as soon as I opened it, my first impression was confirmed—the salt was soft, loose, and very easy to measure. It worked perfectly for my recipe and dissolved just the way it should. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone needing a reliable, fresh curing salt.

This is a curing salt so no pink powder or Prague powder is required to cure the meat. Use one tablespoon per pound of meat evenly distributed and allow one day per inch thickness of the meat. This is what you want to make jerky using your own recipes or just use commercial spice mixes at two tablespoons per pound for muscle meat or three for ground meat. It also can make Canadian bacon, ham, corned beef, pastrami or snack sticks. This is the gateway to cured meats of all sorts. Your friends will be impressed by the snacks you make.

I cure and smoke pork bellies to make my own bacon. I use this instead of pink curing salt and this product is very, very good. I knocked off one star because the last bag I got was broken open in transit. I tried to do a usual Amazon return, but apparently this item is not eligible to be returned. It took about 15 minutes to get the matter resolved through some sort of chat procedure and my money got refunded, but it was a little aggravating. Again, this is not any knock on the product itself.
