one of the most used items in my house
So this is actually my second purchase of an Ember mug and even though I liked the first, this one is even better. I had bought the first iteration and did thoroughly enjoy it. Unlike the coaster heaters, the mug would evenly warm the coffee so that it was still effective with a full cup and not too hot or burned when there was only a small amount left. I have a few (okay, several) cups of coffee throughout the day but I sip them slowly, so this was perfect for me. However, these were my two primary complaints. 1) It looked dirty even if it wasn't. The white color looked nice at the beginning, but given my frequent use, it got stained and scratched after a while. This was mostly just visually unappealing but the coating did come off too. 2) The charging coaster - I got an extra one so I could use it at two locations. They aren't cheap at around $45. The contact charging pins got stuck on one of them after only about 2 months and it stopped working. A couple months later the second one did too. I contacted customer service about it and apparently it was a known issue to be fixed in the second version. I was a little hesitant to invest so much in another fancy coffee cup, so I waited a while to get another. However, I'm happy to say that it appears that both of my previous complaints are fixed in the new version. The black mug is much more my style(and doesn't stain) and the charging pins have been redesigned. No problems so far. Can totally recommend.

I didn't think I would care for it....
I received this item as a gift. I drink a lot of coffee, and I do tend to leave my cups lying around long enough for it to get cold and I have to traipse to the microwave to heat it up for 10 seconds. Even after knowing my habits though, I didn't think I would use this product enough. It seemed like a hassle to have to charge a coffee cup, and because of that I didn't use it for some weeks. After some coaxing, I finally pulled it out of the box and it has changed my life! I kind of feel bad, because this is the only coffee cup I now use. I have whole cabinets filled with awesome mugs and that's where they'll stay. The ceramic mug is ridiculously easy to clean. It isn't dishwasher safe, so it needs to be hand washed. Honestly, all I do is rinse it with hot water and place it back on the charger. It's coffee, and, unlike some cups that keep coffee stains and smells (even after heavy washing), this thing resilient. Just make sure you dry it before putting it back on the charger. Water and electricity usually don't mix well. The one thing I will say is that it keeps my coffee hot, and the less liquid is in the cup, it seems like the hotter it gets. So, after I drink most of my coffee, I tend to turn the cup off so I don't burn my mouth. Since I only use this cup, I don't have mugs piling up with leftover coffee in them either. I only say it changed my life, because one morning I realized I had forgotten to put the cup back on it's charger the day before. I was so bummed having to make my coffee in my batman mug (which is my favorite), that it dawned on me how much I preferred using the Ember mug. Long story short, great mug! Purchased as a gift for my father-in-law too. His experience is much the same as mine, haha. Didn't think we'd care for it, but now we love it!

So Worth It - Prepare To Be Spoiled!
This cup was recommended to me by a friend. I was taken aback by the price but put it on my Christmas list anyway. Choosing a color was easy - it was either black or white (more color choices would be nice!). I chose white. When the day arrived, I was still wondering what the fuss was all about. After all, it is just a mug. Then I used it and everything changed... The mug is extremely well insulated despite the thin walls. I never have to worry about burning my fingers when I pick it up. I drink a lot of coffee from my Kuerig single cup brewer so I measure the water with my mug. The thin walls result in a perfect pour. Unlike my old mugs. water does not run down the sides and onto the counter when I fill the machine. I was impressed with the precise temperature control. I have found that 136°F is ideal for me. When I buy coffee at a coffee shop and take it home, I skip the microwave and let the mug warm it to my ideal temperature. Yummy! The mug's light flashes when your beverage is too warm and steadies when the drink is at the ideal temperature. No more burned lips and mouth! The battery lasts for an hour or more when not on the charger but recharges itself while it's on the charger and actively warming your drink. A cup of brewed coffee tastes just as fresh after two hours in the mug as when it was poured and is maintained at that perfect temperature down to the last sip or two. I started raving about this mug to my wife who is an avid tea drinker. I offered to let her use my mug ONCE to see for herself. She didn't see what the fuss was all about. Then she used it and everything changed.. Needless to say, she now has her own mug and we even have an extra because we needed a charger in the kitchen. All our other mugs are just collecting dust in the cupboard now.

This is my favorite mug!
This mug was the perfect coffee mug for me, but it might not be for you because of its shortcomings. They are: 1. The mug is small, only holds about 8 oz. The size is deceiving because a good portion of the bottom of the mug is filled with the electronics. 2. The battery life of the mug isn't great. I like my coffee as hot as I can keep it, so that kills the battery faster. 3. The app could be better, but its functional So why is this mug still my favorite mug?? Because I can easily overcome them because of my circumstance. 1. Mug is too small, but I work from home. My coffee maker has a thermal pot, which I bring that into my office with me, so when I need to refill it, it's conveniently right there. 2. Battery issue? Since I'm at my desk, I keep the charger/saucer plugged in right next to my keyboard with my mug sitting right on it so I never use it just with the battery. My coffee is always steaming hot. The only problem here is the weekends. Since I don't sit in my office on weekend mornings to slowly enjoy my coffee like I do normally, I notice the battery life issues more. So there you have it. Not perfect for everyone, but for my specific circumstance, perfect for me.

Best cup for my morning coffee!
This review is for the Ember cup (black) and not for the larger Ember travel mug. I love trying out new gadgets but the bad reviews and price ($80 for a cup...crazy) kept me from buying the Ember for a couple months. Something kept drawing me back to it though and I decided to give it a try. I've had the Ember cup now for almost a month and it has been perfect. Sure, I have one of those big insulated mugs for coffee when I'm on the go and it works great but in the mornings while eating breakfast or when I'm at my desk working I really enjoy just a simple cup to sip my coffee from. The problem with a regular cup is coffee goes from hot to cold pretty quick, there is only a couple of minutes that the coffee temperature is just right. That is where the Ember is awesome. It keeps my coffee at that perfect temperature from the first drink to the last. It holds 8 oz with just enough room left at the top if you want to add a little something to the coffee. I've used the phone app with bluetooth a couple times to connect with the cup and it worked fine but I don't have much use for that. The default temperature setting works great for me and I don't need to make any adjustments. I would recommend getting the black color, it looks great and other reviews have mentioned that the white color stains easily. If the Ember eventually develops one of the other problems reviewers have noted then I will get it repaired or replaced. It seems most reviewers have been pretty happy with Ember's customer service taking care of them if there is a problem. As for now, it has been perfect and I always enjoy using it.

Love the concept, but unusable within 3 days
UPDATE: I'm on day three owning this product. I have handwashed, never microwaved, and used only plastic implements to stir my drinks, avoiding touching the bottom with even those. Today I placed the empty mug on my counter and stepped away to brew some coffee. From across the room, two minutes later, I heard a faint cracking sound and came over to look. There's a roughly 1cm circle of delamination at the bottom of the cup after two whole days of use. I may try again if they come out with a more durable second gen model because I love the idea, but for now I'm going back to my regular, non-smart mugs. Extremely disappointed in a product that I was really excited about. Luckily Amazon has an easy return policy. .......... First of all I want to say that I really like this product, despite its flaws. It keeps my coffee at a temp I like, and that's all I wanted it for. That said, it's got quite a few issues. A larger capacity, longer battery life, and water-resistant charging coaster would make it a better product overall, but all of these things are disclosed in the product information so I can't really complain too much there. The edges of the handle are somewhat sharp so you have to hold it just right or it digs into your fingers. Totally workable, just maybe not as comfortable as it could be. And although it's minor, I would like it if the custom color light was actually useful in some way. When in use, the mug defaults to solid or flashing white to indicate temp readiness; it looks fine, but why include the option of a custom color for identification purposes if it only shows when the mug is empty? Why not just use the custom color to replace white altogether? More importantly are temperature inaccuracies. If I have mine set to 135, my coffee cools down to around 120, as read by three separate thermometers, and keeps it there. Or, if I set it to 145 and pour in a cup of room temp coffee to heat up, the app will read 145 when it's actually around 120 and continuing to heat. Over an hour later, it's at 130 (so it is still heating up, despite the app saying it's holding). The temp is fairly consistent between the top and bottom of the cup, which is nice, but it's often the *wrong* temp, and by a lot. And then there's the finicky app. It's clean and intuitive, but simply doesn't work well. In addition to the inaccurate temperature reporting mentioned above, there are significant connectivity problems. I'm guessing the latter causes the former. Occasionally the app just decides to say that the cup is empty when it's full, or vice versa. The brightness setting resets itself over and over throughout the day. Often it won't connect to the mug at all. Sometimes this resolves by itself, and sometimes it doesn't work until the app is reinstalled and the mug set back up (luckily a fairly quick process, but not one I want to have to do several times a day, especially after paying 8-16x what a regular mug costs for something that's supposed to be smart). The cup itself, while not perfect, generally does what I need it to do and keeps my coffee at a tasty temperature, but it sure would be nice if it played more nicely with its own app and didn't fudge the temp quite so much.

Ember mug is an "iPhone" among the mugs
I love my new mug. I am a slow drinker, finally I can enjoy my coffee until the last drop. I have been using it for 2 weeks now. Here is my impression so far. Pros: - easy to use. - the mug holder fits exactly my hands. It is comfortable to hold. - it has a button on the bottom of the mug. - Once I turned it one and paired with ember app, the app asked me to upgrade the SW in the mug! That was pretty cool! Meaning the SW in the mug could be improved in the future. Sweet! - Solid build, high quality ceramic. - I love drinking tea. The provided app will help you to brew your tea and keep it hot as long as you are drinking it. See the screenshots. - you don't want the coffee/tea to be too hot. It would lose the taste and you might get throat cancer. So the ember mug notifies you via app and the white LED stops blinking when the optimal temperature is reached. - Color LED also provides you with info like: charging state, bluetooth connection ... - the mug automatically detects whether it is empty and goes to the power saving mode. - attractive packaging. Cons: - It is pricy, so it is something for the real coffee/tea lovers or for busy SW developers who are burning midnight oil.

Great product with too much baggage
Pros: Works as advertised and keeps your drink at the target temperature (up to 145f) Battery life is good so you can take it off the charger, carry it around the house, and not worry about it dying Looks, feels, operates just like a regular mug Setup is very easy and the app is genuinely easy to use Cons: While the mug itself is great, it comes with a lot of compromises. First, the app and mug requires you to setup a login with an e-mail in order to initially set it up. It's a bluetooth device, so I fail to see what my e-mail address has to do with keeping my coffee warm. Second: The app REQUIRES you to give it permission to use your location data. Again, just like the e-mail, my phone's location has NOTHING to do with keeping my coffee warm, but the company behind this data apparently wants it for something. If you deny it access to this information (on Android), the app will not continue with its setup. Third: The phone does not appear to store any of the temperature data. In order for it to work, you have to open the app. I used it for a couple of days and noticed that it wasn't keeping my drink warm. Even though the mug was on and all of its indicator lights were functioning, it did not actually keep my drink warm until I had opened the app and it had connected to the mug. I'm sure this has to do with more data collection policies. Final thoughts: The mug is great and does an amazing job of allowing you to enjoy coffee/tea at your own pace without worrying about your beverage getting cold. However, the app is apparently a sort of data harvester, the purpose of which is not clear, and it asks for data that frankly it doesn't need and would work fine without. Also, the mug itself is far too reliant on the app for continued functionality. The app itself is great, it just asks for way too much info. Overall I like this mug and will continue using it. Just be aware of what you're sacrificing in privacy in order to keep your drinks warm.

Kostet zw. 2-4 € extra.

Love the ember cup
I ove that my coffee stays the same temperature for every sip. It’s the best feeling to have every sip like your first sip. You do have to put it back on the charge after one hour but can continue to drink your coffee if you are sitting near the base. It’s not a big mug, only 10 oz. bu t I found that perfect for me. I downloaded the app and changed the heat setting to my preference which I really like that feature to. Just now I reheated some coffee from this mornings pot and ember brought it to the exact temperature I set on the phone and it’s just as good as this morning.

E i suoi 100 euro circa li vale tutti! Anche la cura nei dettagli della confezione fa capire la cura nei dettagli che c'è in questo prodotto.
