It is tall enough that I can see straight into it when it sits on my makeup table, instead of having to look down or lean over as would have been the case with some of the ones I found at my drug store and at Walmart.2. It has a slight magnification on one side for regular use, and a very strong magnification on the other in case I want to look very closely at something.3.It can be used just a regular mirror, or lighted to different levels .4. It has a very heavy base, so there is no danger of it tipping over.5. It is electric (can be plugged into an outlet) rather than battery powered as is the case with some of the new ones I've seen offered.
