Have taken it on a trip once so far.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I’ve had a Brunson in the past, lost, and could only find this similar. It works great once you learn how to use it. Gets to cooking flame very quickly. Seems durable like it will last.

Great stoves
These are really great stoves..they work in all kinds of weather and you always know how much fuel you have depending on how many fuel bottles you bring on your trip…well worth the money

If it works, don't fix it.
I've owned two WhisperLite stoves prior to this one. I bought my first one when they first came out. I'm 77 now. The first two were the same, i.e. excellent! They were VERY simple and easy to use. With this one they've made them more complicated to use, more subject to some form of breakage, and therefore more likely to let you down when maybe you need them the most. I'm disappointed that they've felt that "improvements" needed to be made. I used the older ones through many years of backpacking, climbing trips and two Himalayan winter climbing expeditions with no worries. I can only wish that "technology" had left them alone. The more they add, the more that can go wrong at the wrong time. The instructions for use are lengthy and somewhat unclear and the small print is very difficult to read. Under Stove Maintenance (cleaning the jet and fuel line) the Wick is mentioned yet the Wick, and its location, is not shown anywhere in the diagrams. I'm old enough to know that all wicks don't look like the wick on a candle but I have to wonder about Gen Z given what I've experienced with them. They can't even look at you and smile or nod a hello when you pass them on the trail. Finally, these stoves have always run on white gas, like Coleman, which can be purchased in virtually any town that has a hardware store. Now, they're telling you that only MSR fuel should be used. What happens when you run out of fuel for some reason and can't find MSR fuel unless you're near an REI or some other outlet that carries MSR fuel which is more expensive. Ah, maybe that's why you should use only MSR fuel. I've purchased and used MSR equipment for decades and have always found MSR dependable. Now, I'm beginning to think they're changing, like everyone else.

DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT BUY! Misleading and built cheap. The pump is all plastic. Can't return it and I've never used it. Save your money.

43 YEARS AND IT STILL WORKS
ALASKA 1982 ON A RAINY MOUNTAIN until today, just replaced two O-rings for 49 cents each and it still works just as good. Not much lasts for 43 years. It would be better if it had a little longer supply line. I would have submitted a video, but no one wants to see a video of an old man and a stove.
