inexpensive, functional, solidly built
It's not an $900 Fluke, but the DC clamp-on ammeter function agrees pretty well with direct measurements, and that's why you want this meter anyway. It's not going to be accurate to the milliamp, obviously, but it's more than good enough and very useful.

Accuracy and bright LED display
It does everything as advertised and right on with accuracy. By far good price for item. I'm very happy 😊 love the auto feature.

Good Meter for the money.
Seems like a good meter for the money. A lot of functionality for the price. I think I paid this much for an analog amprobe back in the 70’s. AS other reviewers mentioned, the battery cover is held on by a loose screw—couldn’t they have made it captive? Temp display has degrees C as the primary readout and degrees F as a smaller secondary display. I don’t see a way to swap ‘em. The built in flashlight is pretty dim, but if you open the clamp jaws it lets a little more light through. Better than nothing if you find yourself working in the dark. All of the functions that I could test at home work OK.

I needed an amp clamp...
...as my current multimeter didn't have one (it's really old). While it takes some time to learn how the Kaiweets works, I think it will do just fine. One thing I really like it the insulation used on the test leads--feels like silicon. It's much more forgiving than my old multimeter insulation. My only concern is the operational manual. It has some mistakes...probably due to the language barrier. While this may seem a small thing, it could lead a novice to make some mistakes when taking readings and thus damage the meter or something. I think having an accurate manual is very important, and thus my reasoning for giving it a 4-star rating.

Incredible Clamp Meter
In my business before I retired, my default electrical test equipment was always Fluke. Not just because it's some of the best available, but because I could write it off as an expense. I'm retired now so cost IS an issue, so when I needed to replace my defunct Fluke clamp meter, I bought the HT208F because of all of it's quite advanced features for the price. The $10 extra to get the "F" display over the "D" display is well worth it because the F version is so much easier to read in sunlight with the backlight available for low light areas. I'll finish up to say that that I am VERY impressed with this meter. It's 1/5 of the cost of a Fluke that has similar options and it's seems to be quite accurate compared to other Fluke meters I still have (including my 117). I now use this clamp meter as often or more than I use my Fluke 117 because of the easier way to measure amps (and Inrush current). I often use the HT208F with the Triplett ET200 AC Line Splitter and GFCI Outlet/Receptacle Tester which makes measuring current even easier.

Two defective meters in a row. Avoid
This is my second meter in 4 days. The first one arrived in a wet package with the end of the box ripped off. There was moisture inside the case, the leads, the manual was wet and the ink had begun to bleed... but the meter itself was dry. So I put the batteries in and tried out the NCV function. it wouldn't detect live voltage putting the tip into a slot on a standard 115V outlet. it would only detect voltage putting it against something like a live extension cord. So given the shape it was in I requested a replacement. The replacement arrived today in a pristine sealed box. I installed the batteries and tested the NCV function like I did on the first one. To my delight it detected voltage out the 115V outlet this time. I thought cool.... this one is good to go. Then leaving it in NCV setting I started walking out to the garage to test it on a 240V outlet. As I walked through the living room the NCV detected High Voltage in the middle of the room!!! I turned the unit off, removed the batteries and installed fresh Energizer MAX AAA (because google AI said low batteries can cause this) and as soon as I walked in any room in our house the thing would go off and detect high voltage again. Google AI said it was defective.... Duh. I have several other style meters with NCV function and none of them display this behavior. I bought this clamp on meter because my other clamp on meter does not have inrush measuring capability, and this one does.... and had pretty good reviews. Well needless to say it's going back to amazon with the first one and I'm going to have to find something that actually works.

HT208F has LCD screen visible in bright sunlight
I own both the HT208D and the HT208F. Both are a great value with a great many useful functions. I originally bought the D model because I wanted to measure the peak inrush current on our RV AC when I was debugging what turned out to be an on board generator problem. Even though I have a lot of good meters at home, none had inrush capability. The D performed very admirably, but as mentioned by many others, the display can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. Still, I liked the meter so much that I wanted a second one. That's where the F model (HT208F) comes in: It's not immediately apparent, but the F is identical to the D except that it has a standard (backlit) LCD display that is visible in bright sunlight. So if this is a concern for you, get the F model. It's a quality meter with features for most everyone.

Expensive for what is intended
To expensive for what is intended, you can buy cheaper devices with same characteristics. Pros: Solid build quality, but keep on mind that jaws hang on one plastic pin, question is how it hold in long term. Same as HT208D but with normal LCD display for better visibility on sunlight. LCD display is big, clear and good contrast, one of the best in this price level. Cons: NCV is useless on this device since is not working as should. TEMP function showing constantly lower values by 3-4c (same on all Kaiweets?) Relatively big form factor
