## Description

From the Publisher Forget the old concept of retirement and the rest of the deferred-life plan - there is no need to wait and every reason not to, especially in unpredictable economic times. Whether your dream is escaping the rat race, experiencing high-end world travel, earning a monthly five-figure income with zero management, or just living more and working less, this book is the blueprint.

Review: Why wait for retirement, enjoy the things now. - What the book is about: - Book dispels the notion of waiting till retirement. It is aimed at creating mini retirements by using the method DEAL i.e. Define, Elimination, Automation and Liberation for entrepreneurs and DELA for employees. Book puts emphasis on being an owner of business rather than being a boss. It guides through the process of managing businesses in a completely different way by using the DEAL Method. It challenges the normal thinking about retirement, timing of actions and Money as solution of everything. It supports the complete process of joining the new rich club by following four steps 1. Define :- It defines what is your worst case scenario of leaving the job. What are the alternatives you have to overcome the situation? It puts focus on creating your short timelines what you want to be or do in near future. The template for creation of timelines also provided which shows the amount required for each timeline is not that much as we think. 2. Eliminate: - In this step, author puts focus of elimination of all non-productive things around you using 80/20 principle. It says that our 80% happiness comes from 20% of our output and vice versa. The quote at the beginning of the chapter by Bruce Lee sums the chapter “One does not accumulate but eliminate. It is not daily increase but daily decrease. The height of cultivation always runs to simplicity.” 3. Automate: - In this author explains the importance of outsourcing life from personal to business which saves lots of time. Author explained the process of automation of business as it grows over a period of time. 4. Liberation:- The last step of the process is liberation in which author discussed ways to be free from job or from business. Learning’s :- Some of the key learning from the books a) Batch processing of identical jobs to save time and energy. b) Checking emails only twice a day. c) Create small timelines of things you want to do and achieve. d) Checklist of 09 Not to do things in life Overall review: - It is an unusual book which gives you wings to break the shackles of daily 09 to 05 job and aims at achieving freedom with financial gains. It aims at spending quality life with your loved ones and hobbies which you enjoy. Overall it is very good read which gives us insight about what is our aim life.
Review: New way of solving a very old problem - Work to live & prevent our lives from being all about work - I agree with Michael E Gerber's statement “The 4-Hour Workweek is a new way of solving a very old problem: just how can we work to live and prevent our lives from being all about work? A world of infinite options awaits those who would read this book and be inspired by it!” Initially I was not impressed with this book from Tim Ferriss. It appeared more like the usual GYAN stuff. Book came to me as a gift from my friend and I started reading it. First few pages looked un-practical. However I must admit as I went on ... it was a perfect story telling and I read the whole book like a marathon. It is a great book for all and specifically those who want to do something different from the monotonous world of 9 to 5. I liked everything but specifically two chapters (1) Outsourced Life (2) How to Travel the World with 10 Pounds or Less At the same time I felt some of the thoughts expressed in the book are not for me like not reading a news paper or "not watching television" in the chapter "The Low-Information Diet". Liked and quoting a paragraph citing credible India from the chapter - OUTSOURCED LIFE : "The next day I e-mail Brickwork, one of the companies Friedman mentions in his book. Brickwork—based in Bangalore, India—offers “remote executive assistants,” mostly to financial firms and healthcare companies that want data processed. I explain that I’d like to hire someone to help with Esquire-related tasks—doing research, formatting memos, like that. The company’s CEO, Vivek Kulkarni, responds, “It would be a great pleasure to be talking to a person of your stature.” Already I’m liking this. I’ve never had stature before. In America, I barely command respect from a Bennigan’s maître d’, so it’s nice to know that in India I have stature." I bought two books and gifted to two of my friends.
