Flat batteries
A little disappointed to find that the batteries that came with the unit were flat and wouldn’t power the unit. Once batteries were changed everything was fine.

I had to weigh up getting in a gas professional to diagnose severity and location of a possible leak and buying this product.. I did the latter, because I was not prepared to wait. I'm glad I did - old gas oven was leaking past 10mill PPM. Turned off at the mains. No other leaks. Really glad I bought into the tool and took care of it myself. I also appeciate having low or high sensitivity. Only criticism would be I'd like a high PPM for the big leak, but really trivial when it's designed for finding small leaks, more than anything.

I tired other "sniffers" that were just completely worthless. This tool is very simple to operate and conclusively confirms whether there is a gas leak--and if so, where it is coming from. The variable response alert system shows the intensity of any leak, or even better, no leak at all. It is very clear, thereby imparting full confidence in the results. (Because it showed I did not have a leak at the time, I tested this by opening an unlit gas burner and "searched" for it. It worked perfectly.) An invaluable, easy too use tool for all-important peace of mind. Highly recommend.

Have used the gas tester to locate leaks however the tester can give false readings at times depending on the setting of the Auto Zero calibration button. If the device is left to self calibrate on startup, it can give a constant low level reading throughout the whole house. The detector head is also sensitive to heat and if you cup your hand over the sensor it will start to show low level gas. So if you calibrate in outside clean air where it is cooler, it can give a false low level reading when you bring it in to a room that is warm. If you push the Auto Zero button on startup (Auto Zero light now off) it will still calibrate but now there are no false readings. Raised this issue with Klein Technical Support but after 8 weeks with no technical response despite constant follow up, I can only assume Klein has no clue as to why the issues happen as they simply rebadge a genetic Chinese made tester.
