Jo Chef Kitchen Torch, Blow Torch - Refillable Butane Torch: This is a cool-looking torch and it works really well. The only issue is that I bought butane at the store and tried to fill the torch but the tube to fill the torch is too big. While I'm trying to fill the torch, the butane spills over it causing my hands to freeze and making only a small portion of the butane enter the torch. Most of the butane I purchase end up in the sink and on my hands. They recommend Jo Chef butane. I would listen to them. Good find otherwise!

The USA-flag-themed torch was delivered on-time, complete and as described by the seller. It is packaged in a colorful gift box which contains the torch, a plastic base, an instruction sheet and three plastic nozzles. The instructions for filling and using the torch are reasonably clear but could be improved; I am not entirely sure what those two small plastic nozzles are for. I used a recommended Jo Chef Butane Fuel canister for filling. Like with other reviewers, there was some gas leakage during filling; I found that if I pressed the fuel canister more firmly against the torch valve, the leakage was reduced and I was able to fill the torch with liquid butane to the top of the fuel window. Until I get more skillful with the filling procedure, I shall take care to do this in a well-ventilated and flame-free environment. The instructions warn against over-filling the torch, but do not clarify how to determine when the torch is full (I can assume that beyond the level of the fuel window is over-full, but it would be comforting to get clarity on that for a device which is potentially explosive). Once fueled, operation is straightforward; both hands are required in order to open/adjust the flow control knob, disable the safety interlock and pull the ignition trigger. Once lit, the flame can be adjusted to the desired size/intensity using the control knob which is also used to shut off the torch; take care, opening the knob too far will create a flame-thrower effect. I found that the torch is top-heavy and the plastic base is required in order to set it securely upright on a table-top.

this is actually a pretty nice little butane torch to have on hand. It seems to work just about like the rest. It has a button you can depress to keep it on if you wish, or you can have it normal trigger activated/deactivated. I did have an issue filling it at first, any gas I would put in would slowly leak right back out. But the next time I tried it out, it seemed to seal up fine, no leaks ever since The first time. It is very easy to use, and put off a lot of heat fast. Nice little torch, highly recommended.

Arrived in the open position and turned all the on. Not sure if I received someone’s return or if it was boxed inappropriately but I have a useless, empty torch. Thanks a bunch. Don’t waste your money.

I know you can always put something into a broil and get good color on it. But sometimes that leads to over cooking or burning or a whole lot of smoke in your kitchen. Sometimes you just really want to apply a high heat flame to something to caramelize it. And now I FINALLY can! I have been wanting a torch like this for a long time. As soon as mine arrived I bought a big ol pork shoulder and did a slow cook on it. Then I chopped it up and used the Jo Chef to caramelize the chunks and make my carnitas crispy and delicious. In the past I would have done this with a broil and it would have been most inconsistent and would have dried out some of the meat but now everything stayed juicy except where I toasted it. Amazing. Its not the easiest tool I have used. There was some set up and I think I will need to work to get better at it. But it did what I wanted most and I am overjoyed.

This is a great little flame. It has a really great strength but very easy to control. Really great for cooking and camping. Very easy to fill. Great value for the price

A very colorful torch for kitchen or... The instructions are simple and clear. The safety features do what they should without interfering in the use of the torch. If it lasts well, and only time and use can give that information, it looks like it will be a 5 star.
