From New York Times bestselling author Nick Ortner comes a beautiful picture book that will help children discover calm through the magic of mindful breathing: Do YOU have the magic breath? Letโs seeโฆTake a deeeeeep breath inโฆand BLOW it outโฆ โฆand like magic, you can feel better just by breathing! Sometimes itโs hard to feel happy. But with this interactive picture book, children breathe along as they learn how to make angry or sad thoughts disappear. In a world that is sometimes too busy, with too many things going on, My Magic Breath will help steer children into a serene space of mindfulness, self-awareness, and balance. A wonderful classroom and naptime story, this book is perfect for fans of Susan Verdeโs I Am Yoga and I Am Peace , Mariam Gatesโs Good Night Yoga , and Deborah Underwoodโs The Quiet Book . Review: Great for teaching a de-stress srategy! - Our granddaughter has been through some difficult stressful experiences and needed an effective strategy for calming herself. This book is perfect for teaching a simple breathing technique that a young person and readily recall and use when stressed or unable to fall asleep. We incorporate this exercise with gratitude... Thinking of something that happened recently for which you're grateful and focusing on that feeling of gratitude as you breathe in. Breathe in the happy thoughts, breathe out the negativity. It simply works. The book's illustrations support the method. Review: Useful skill for kidโs emotions - My child has enjoyed reading this book and itโs easily transferable to real life when trying to work through emotions.

Great introduction to conscious breathing
I've read this book to preschoolers, 1st graders, and 2nd graders so far (I'm a substitute teacher) and it's been a hit with all of them. Beautiful illustrations and great way to introduce mindful breathing and the magic connection between consciously directing our breath and managing our emotions. Note: it's written like a bedtime book, so revise the last page so the class isn't ready to take a nap at the end of it, lol.

Fun way to teach kids a breathing technique
This book is a great way to teach kids how to take deep breaths to calm down or get rid of bad thoughts. Beautifully illustrated. My kid picked it up on the first read and we continue to refer to deep breaths as using our "magic breath." Highly recommend.

A Healing Book for Children
A simple yet powerful mindful practice to start our children practicing self-healing techniques. Books with such themes for children are not nearly as common as they should be. I would like recommend H is For Heartbeat. It conveys messages such as A attitude, F is for forgive, K is for kindness, and W is for worthy. It is worth checking out and currently under $7.

MAGIC!
What did I learn? My breath really is magic. Oh yeah, so is my kids'. Seriously, this is so well written that I can't even think of a bad thing about it except that maybe the part on the last page about bedtime could be left out. We use this for time outs to help with our son's anxiety and at bedtime to help the kids calm down. Or whenever they bring it to me because they really love the way the breathing makes them feel (so do I). I plan to buy a copy for daycare and a copy for preschool and probably a copy for grandma's and one for pretty much everyone I know. The writing is simple and clear enough that my 5 and 3 year olds can understand it, and the concept is unique from other books where kids are actively thinking about their breathing. Instead, they're thinking about happy thoughts and sad thoughts and how to process all the overwhelming feelings kids feel. By the time we got to the page instructing the reader to yawn, we were all already yawning. Love everything about this book!

Just magical!
Wonderful calming book for grumpy children (or adults!). Nick Ortner books ought to be made compulsory reading! He and his family Jessicca and Alex Ortner have written so much amazing content on 'Tapping'. Schools everywhere are now beginning to latch on to the concept.
