Question 1

what's the difference betrween Corefix and Corefix Plus30?

Accepted Answer

Thanks for the question Pamela, the difference between the fixings is as follows:

Corefix Original (Red) is the standard go to fixing for installations where the fixture thickness is up to 10mm (eg metal brackets). Independently tested safe working load of 100kg on 4 x fixings

Corefix Air (Blue) has been created to highlight the suitability for use when fixing into thermalite/aircrete blocks as this type of wall construction is notoriously difficult to fix to. Independently tested safe working load of 73kg on 4 x fixings in thermalite/aircrete blocks.

Corefix Plus30 (Yellow) has a longer 120mm screw for securing fixtures of up to 30mm deep (eg wooden battens). Independently tested safe working load of 100kg on 4 x fixings

All Corefix fixings have high load ratings and performance and are suitable for use in all types of brick and block, including lightweight/aircrete blocks.

I hope this helps you make an informed decision moving forward. Kind Regards the team at Metex

Question 2

Best size bit to use Length and diameter?

Accepted Answer

The bit size is 10mm, noted on the side of the packaging and in the product description on Amazon.
The length of the bit depends on the depth of the gap and length of the fixing.
Watch this video from Skill Builder where he uses these fixings and mentions the drill length.
Hope this helps

Question 3

Are these suitable for fixing a curtain pole?

Accepted Answer

Yes, they are rated to carry 200kg weight I think, so curtain pole will be no issue. Perfect if you have dot n dab wall construction as the metal sleeve carries the weight to ensure plasterboard won’t crack.

Question 4

Can corefix be used with lath and plaster walls? I an thinking about drillin through the lath and plaster and mounting the corefix into the brick.

Accepted Answer

Can’t see why this wouldn’t work. The point of the fixings is to bridge the gap between plasterboard and breeze block behind it in modern construction properties. So long as the gap between the lath and plaster and the block work behind is not too big then it should work in a similar way I’d think.
