## Description

DVD containing classic live performances by two of Rock music's most iconic bands: The Doors and the Rolling Stones. The Doors Are Open - the Music from the Doors-(Roundhouse, London, July 9th 1968) Jim Morrison writhes in leather pants and white poet's shirt, flinging his curls and dancing to an extended version of 'Spanish Caravan'. The cinematography in black and white takes care to spotlight each of the band members rather than the audience, making this show especially intimate. 'The Doors Are Open' is an intimate portrait of one of the Doors' unique live shows in England. The Rolling Stones in the Park - THE Music from the Stones (Hyde Park London July 5th 1969) the Rolling Stones were scheduled to play at a free concert in London's Hyde Park two days after Brian Jones's death; they decided to proceed with the show as a tribute to him. It was their first concert with replacement guitar player Mick Taylor, performed in front of an estimated 250,000 fans.

Awesome! Intense! The band is on fire & Jim is a live-wire!I wish there was a way to cut all the political footage out of it but hay I just fast forward through those parts.Wonder what happened to all of the other footage that was filmed from those shows?Would love to get my hands on it =)Now to get it on DVD.

They could've easily fit them on the disc

I knew something was wrong when I opened this and saw Alan Douglas' name on it. The guy responsible for butchering those posthumous Jimi Hendrix albums is at it again (he's since kicked the bucket, no big loss there). What we have here are two British TV specials The Doors are Open from '68 and The Stones in the Park from '69. Both aired on Granada TV.I bought this because I thought it would be convenient to have them both on the same disc and to save on shipping. That was a mistake. What this listing doesn't tell you is that each video is missing two songs. They could've easily fit them on the disc. Alan Douglas is notorious for doing crap like that. The Doors part is missing When the Music's Over and Five to One. The Stones part is missing I'm Free (I never liked that track anyway) and Honkey Tonk Woman (which was disappointing as it was the first time they ever played it live, I love the Stones when they're sloppy). I've seen a Japanese version which also has Street Fighting Man but that always goes for $30-$50. YouTube here I come.Anyways, if you've read this far you already know what's on this. I recomend buying them separately. This version is another Alan Douglas hack job.4 stars 'cause the Stones are just so good. Some of the Doors footage is already on the Live Europe '68 DVD. This one concentrates solely on the London gig.
