So easy to setup.
Delivery thru Amazon prime was early and packed brand new. Easy to setup, I used a hdmi 2.1 cable (not included), that I also ordered thru Amazon at the same time. After connecting the hdmi cable from the Panasonic 4k player, to my 4k tv hdmi1 slot on the back of my tv, it was mostly turned on the power and inserted a Harry Potter 4k ultra hd 'And The Sorcerer's Stone' disk. I went to settings and then to 'inputs', then to hdmi 1, on my tv. But I noticed on some of the disks, that as soon as I inserted the disk it went straight to play, bye passing going thru inputs. And that was it. Fantastic picture and the sound is great. But I am having a little problem getting used to when something dramatic happens the volume increases drastically. Reminds me of going to the movies. LOL 😆 I have played not only 4k ultra hd disks and digital but also bluray and dvd's. And played beautifully every time. No skipping no worries. And the quality of the picture is outstanding. I'm pretty sure it is the 4k tv and the 4k Panasonic player that works together. I wasn't sure if I should have gone with the Sony. But I am so happy with the Panasonic.

The best value in 4K players today
For those that don't go deep into the rabbit hole, the key factors that make this the best bang-for-buck player may not stand out to them. In a nutshell, unlike Sony's offering, this player automatically enables Dolby Vision if the disk supports it. In fact, it is in all ways that matter virtually identical to the much more expensive Panasonic players that tout this feature. The build is more basic than the top-end models, but it's not poorly built and it is entirely functional. It has the goods where it matters. For the longest time, this unit was only available in Europe, and Panasonic snuck it into the US via Amazon and priced it at a great value point. I'm going to buy a second unit and keep it new in the box in case anything happens to the one I'm using. And I can do that for about the same money as buying the higher-end model that performs identically. It's a no brainer. Don't hesitate - buy this player!

Great video, above-average USB media-player, but not perfect
The picture quality is great and it works well. Personally, I mostly wanted to upgrade from my Sony because another reviewer had said that the "media player" (off USB drive) was excellent and I've got my entire, enormous DVD collection of many thousands digitized onto a hard drive, so so many products that claim to support this, do it at the bare minimum... sometimes unusably (My Samsung TV will spend 10 minutes trying to read the files in one directory!) The Sony also had issues with navigating large folders... very painful. THIS player is MUCH better at reading the file system... the directories pop up immediately. The UI is high-res and clear, but I could have used a slicker looking interface than just dull directories of file names... but at least it works quickly. The BAD... It doesn't take lot of effort to hang this box to the point of needing to reboot. The first HD VIDEO FILE that I played froze the system up as soon as I went into double-fast-forward mode. (It would be a nightmare to return to a point deep inside a file if you ever accidentally exited it!) Another HD movie hung up the system during playback a short while later as well. But we have successfully watched several other movie files. I've NOT see it misbehave while playing discs. We've also seen some issues with closed caption (again, on video files, not on discs) where the captions would display each line for minutes at a time... so by the end of the show, it would still be showing lines from the beginning. Not sure if this is a widespread issue or specific to the files (from BBC discs of "Death in Paradise".) I've not seen any caption issues with discs so far. UPDATE: I wrote that it doesn't support CEC (one device controlling another over the HDMI cable) but that's not true. My SONY would turn off/on my whole system (TV, AV Receiver) whenever I powered off/on the DVD player... but this one behaves a little differently and it took me a couple more times to realize it. If I use the player's remote to turn the DVD off, it does not power down the whole system... but I CAN use the TV remote to control the DVD player (so it must be communicating) and if I turn the TV off... it WILL turn off the DVD player along with everything else... in a way, it's actually the preferred behavior, so you can turn off the DVD player and switch to something else without accidentally powering everything off. It also seems that for a "premium" player, it could use higher quality materials... it's not bad, it's just no better than any other player at half the price. So... video quality-wise, no complaints. All the basic stuff is well presented and easy to use (although it took me a while to figure out that it had SEPARATE settings for old-school 608 vs HD 708 closed captions, so I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't display after I turned them on... gotta set both!) The media player feature, while better than most, still feels like an afterthought and could has room for improvement. 4.0 - 4.5 stars

Love this 4K Player
I have an XBOX One that has a built in 4k player. I did a bit of research on a regular player and what plays all movie types better and everyone ended up saying that a dedicated player is always better than a game station, and boy were they right. I notice especially when I want to play a DVD, how the player upscales the video to be much more enjoyable. I wanted to go for the UB-820, but this one works perfectly fine. Get one if you’re thinking about it.

Nice Blu-Ray player
So far everything is good. I purchased this on January 2, 2026 so I have had it long. However, I do not like the remote that came with the unit. Just a few days ago I purchased part number N2QAYB001206, which is a Panasonic remote that comes with the Panasonic Blu Ray DVD Player, DP-UB820-K. This remote will work with my unit and I like it a lot better than the one that came with this unit. The price of the new remote was about $12.50. Does not come with any batteries. It take two AA batteries.

Panasonic UB450 is cheap and it shows! You get what you pay for!
Do not waste your time or money on the Panasonic UB450. I own two Panasonic UB820 and a Reavon UBX100 they are excellent players. I purchased the UB450 from Amazon as a back up player and because Panasonic makes quality products until now. This first player I purchased did not work at all. The remote control was broken so I had to use my remote from the UB820. The disc tray had issues opening and closing. The player powered up but would not display the set up menu, I could not get any picture, so I returned the unit. I purchased a second unit and that one seemed better at first. Remote worked but very cheap and poor quality so again I used my UB820 remote. This player powered up and the set up menu came up right away. I went through the set up and started playing 4K UHD movies. Seemed fine then I played a blu ray movie and it seemed fine too, but once I went back to play 4k movies, the player malfunctioned and the screen was pixelated with red, yellow and pink colors only. This was something I had never experienced with any other player. I tried multiple 4k movies with the same result-pixelated screen. I unplugged it, swapped HDMI cable, reset settings, connected it directly to another OLED TV bypassing the receiver and results were the same. The UB450 is a poorly made player with cheap parts - you get what you pay for!! Even if this player worked, it would not last more than a year if you’re lucky! Very disappointed at Panasonic!

The absolute BEST bang for your buck, entry level 4K player with Dolby Vision capabilities!
Recently, my girlfriend and I decided it was time to upgrade our "living room movie theater". First up was a new TV. I'd always heard fantastic things about OLED, so I decided it was time. I bought a 65" LG C3 to pair with our already existing surround sound system. I'll never be able to go back to another kind of TV. I'm a big physical media guy, and this was our first 4K TV, so next up was a 4K player. Trying to find a reasonably priced unit proved to be more difficult than I ever thought it'd be. It had to support multiple formats and that's where you start to run into issues. Most players with those capabilities tend to start in the $500 range. I first went with a Sony UBP-X700M. It seemed to work fine until it started to freeze during disc playback. Did some more research and learned this is a problem that's well known in the home theater community. I immediately returned it for a refund. Initially, I thought I was going to have to fork over another $250 to grab a Panasonic DP-UB820 (the most positively reviewed player under $600) until I came across this listing. Apparently, this player's been available in other countries for quite a while but has just hit the market here in the United States. I'm quite thankful I got into this when I did or else I would've spent so much more. There's not a lot of bells and whistles here, but that's perfectly fine with me. I use my LG TV's apps and such. I bought this player for my 4K/blu-ray discs and, for that purpose, this thing's fantastic. It supports Dolby Vision (lots of players in this price range don't) and HDR10+. It also features 2 HDMI ports to separate the audio and video signals. Doesn't feel like it's made from the strongest of materials, so I definitely wouldn't stack anything on top of it. If you're just getting into this whole home theater thing, this is literally the best there is right now.

Fantastic picture quality, unbelievable upscaling abilities!
I got this Panasonic (branded) 4K Blu Ray as my Samsung was just too troublesome. The price was fair, and the performance with 4K discs is everything you might imagine. It's unexpected super power is in its upscaling of standard DVD's and Blu Rays. I tested playing a standard DVD in a standard (Pioneer)DVD player, my (Pioneer) Blu Ray, and this Panasonic 4K Blu-Ray. The difference was incredible. Even standard DVD's look great! ... No pixelization at all - even on a 100" screen! Its performance is unequalled to date. This merits of looking at this player even for just its incredible upscaling performance are valid, seriously ... It's that good! I recommend it 100%

No funcionó y no he recibido la devolución.
