4 stars for Jonas 3 stars for the story

I was really looking forward to Jonas's story, much like Kaden (from GhostWalkers) he was my favorite. I kind of wish she would have done Jonas's story earlier, while we would have missed the buildup, it would have been nice to have his story during the prime of her sizzling writing, rather than feeling like you almost need to push through it just to see what happens.Jonas is this hard a** who has little tact. He's probably the least known (genetically and secretly) Breed. We find out he's an F designation rather than the typical A for alpha and so on. We also know he is in charge of the `Ghost Team' whom no one has seen without some form of disguise. We know that Dog, crazy coyote who sometimes works with the `bad guys' owes him his life, and yet we know that he makes all his decisions for the best of the Breeds, though sometimes it doesn't seem like it. That's why this book was so anticipated. Jonas, the loner who always `plays games' or does he, finally gets some happiness... you would think right?Rachel is pregnant and a good friend of the Prima of the Lion's Pride. She also seems to be the perfect personal assistant because she knows how to handle men like Jonas and Kane and their `Me Alpha you tremble' personalities. The only problem is that she has no back round. We know she was knocked up by a guy named Devon, we know she didn't like `dirty pillow talk' before Jonas and that she used to work with Kane. Other than that she has no past. I also find myself getting frustrated with the mating heat. I really am. In earlier books it was interesting and different, something about nature taking over and neither party having a choice until it ran it's course. Now though on the umpteenth book, I'm like.. .really? They haven't found a way yet to make it so that the woman is not a slave to her you know what and only the guy's you know what can make the heat calm??? We find out Rachel is different, and this better be a building block for future `mating heats' in the next books. I really feel like it's a crutch... "baby if I kiss you my hormone will make you go crazy, then you won't be able to resist." Ick I just want a woman to be like... yea whatever then resist!Ahhhh Like Kaden now I feel like I was cheated out of Jonas' story! Sometimes Rachel knew things about the mating heat, sometimes she didn't, sometimes the scenes were detailed about the baby, and sometimes we have to assume the baby levitated itself from the car or the carrier to inside the house. I liked this better than Heat Seeker, I liked this better than Coyote's Mate (I hated the way Anya was treated) and I liked this better than Bengal's heart. It doesn't top Tanner's Scheme or Elizabeth's Wolf or a few others though... I hope the series finds its way back home.

    So Pleasantly (Gratefully!) Surprised!

I downloaded this book onto my Kindle in May, but delayed 3 months reading it because some of the negative reviews made me so apprehensive. I am sorry I waited, but SO glad I finally dove in. I really loved this book. Loved it because it fleshed out an entirely different side to Jonas - one that had been hinted at in the past. If ever there was a Breed/man who needed love, someone to hold him, someone who cared enough to upbraid him when he deserved it, it was Jonas. Dreams he wouldn't allow himself to have for himself finally came true. And I think that Rachel was/is a terrific mate for him. Maybe because she was so different than some might have expected. Heck, she was entirely different than even Jonas thought any mate of his would be - as we saw directly when he compared Rachel to the type of woman he'd assumed his mate would be, and realized that she was, in fact, exactly what he needed instead.I didn't find her weak. I thought she had very good reasons to be wary of the whole "mating heat" thing, and being tied biologically to someone while fearing the emotional bonds might not be there. Plus, she didn't fully understand the level of anguish Jonas was experiencing until Ely confronted her.I felt sad for both Ely and Dane, and can't wait until we learn who their mates are... let alone Cassie's! And I loved that LL left us wondering about Bradenmore and what he did when he had Amber...I have a warm feeling, thinking about Jonas and his family - which we'll hopefully see grow as the books continue!

Jonas Wyatt was the director of Breed. Keeping pieces moving was his top job.

Jonas went through secretaries like tissues. It was laughable if not frustrating. Merinus knew a perfect person for the job. She had worked with her brother at one point. Rachel was pregnant when she stepped into his office. Needing a new start, she accepted Merinus's help in getting her this job. It wouldn't be easy, not by any means. She was always drawn to Jonas, not sure why though. Jonas was not an easy man to be around, could she work with him? Seems chemistry was going to be one sided for her. He was handsome and everything her baby daddy wasn't.
