Helunsi 5-Pack Clear Inline Switch, Lamp Cord Button in Line ON/Off Switch

I got these to add switches to a couple of corded electric window candles for the holidays. I originally started looking at rotary switches, but was dismayed that they all were cheap designs relying on pressing the wire onto a spade and hoping that it will cut through the wire coating and make a decent connection. These switches are old school – using screw terminals. Unscrew the clamping screw, slip the wire into the hole under the screw in the clamping block, and tighten the screw to lock the wire in place. Yes, you need to have wire strippers in addition to wire cutters to do the job but that’s a small detail. These do have small screws for everything, but anyone with a decent set of tools should be able to deal with them. These switches also have small clamping bands to lock the cord on each side of the switch so it doesn’t get pulled out if someone yanks on the cord. It took only a few minutes to install on each cord, and they work great. I couldn’t be happier. Glad I bought the 5 pack – a few extra switches for the next job. The packaging has a zip-lock top for re-sealing the remaining switches in the package. I highly recommend these switches. As a note, these are technically DPST switches, and the cord openings are fairly large. While I didn’t do this, it does appear as though one might actually be able to wire up two separate cords through the switch. The instructions show wiring either a single switched line or two switched wires. I chose to switch both the hot and common wires in my plug rather than switching only the hot line and passing the common wire untouched on the inner side of the switch.

I cannot say enough positive things about this product. I am reasonably comfortable with DIY projects, and this product works exactly as it claims was incredibly simple to use and the directions could not have been more clear. I actually had my wife look at the directions and asked her to tell me what she would do if she was simply following the directions she came to the same conclusion I did which means the directions were well written to people who may not be DIY familiar. This product is super solid works incredibly well and results in a solid reliable and safe electrical connection if you need to replace a lamp wire connector or even if you don’t like the one you have this is a great product and easy for virtually anyone to successfully complete without the need for advanced knowledge or specialty tools. If you have some basic screwdrivers and a pair of pliers, you can do this.

These are great inline switches. The rocker feels solid and has a positive snap when turning ON/OFF. Make sure your wire gauge is SMALL enough. The wires attach via a small metal hole with a clamping screw. 18 gauge was a tight fit. There is an additional clamp to keep the insulated cord stable, but it may look loose because the cable hole is rectangular and does not hug the cable. This is a double throw switch: both wires are "open" in the off position. I wanted to mount this switch under a cabinet to keep it stationary but the screws to close the casing are in the back. Double stick tape was my solution. Cable staples on each end would have also worked.

This product worked well but the instructions are NOT clear. They leave out an important part of the process. Luckily, my brother is an electrical engineer and he helped me over the phone. And the product is so small that it's REALLY hard to work with it. But, between the two of us, we figured it out.

Perfect replacement for a worn out switch on an antique lamp.

Used it to replace the original switch on the Disney100 Walt Disney Studios Water Tower Lamp 18". The lamp had a cheaply made switch that failed after six months. This replacement switch is a much higher quality and works great!

Simple installation; solid internal connection; easy to use, work great.

Helunsi Inline Switch was easy to use and very clear instructions on which side the positive wire should be connected to which terminal. The switch can accommodate the thicker wire now standard on lamps. It also has restraining straps to keep the wire from being pulled out of the wire terminals. If you have a soldering iron, solder the tips of the wires to make it easier to insert into the small terminal holes. It also has the words On / Off printed on the rocker switch. I give it 5 stars.

Brilliant inline light switch.Very easy to install and great quality. Good cable clamps with flat or round cable. Clear on/off button. All terminals are easy to place wires into and secured well when tightened. ~ I had to replaced some damaged moulded switches.will order more.
