I use bamboo cutting boards with these knives. I only use these knives with vegetables. (i never use them for meat, boning, garlic pressing, or avocado pit pulling/twisting.) If you drop it on tile, use it with glass cutting boards, or torque the knife aggressively (like hacking into then twisting out an avocado pit) then yeah, it might chip.
