Well worth the money
Brews a much better cup of joe than my old $40 drip coffee maker. Bought the stainless steel carafe, which if you fill it up with hot water for a few minutes just before brewing keeps the coffee hot longer.

Great coffee! Best extraction of the brands I've used.
Models that I have used and compare to the Ratio Six: Technovorm Mocca Master, Bonavita 1900, OXO 8 cup brewer, Breville Precision Brewer. I roast and grind my own coffee and have tools to measure roast levels and extraction rates. Pros: Brews a great cup of coffee!!! I use Light to Medium roast coffee. I use a 17:1 water to coffee ratio (1000ml H2O/ 58.8 g coffee). The Ratio Six has by far the best extraction rate. This gives you a very rich, flavorful cup of coffee. If you don't care about extra features such as a clock, remote timer, etc and all you want is the best cup of coffee, then in my opinion, this is the brewer that you want. This is the series 2 version of the Ratio Six and they apparently have fixed the problem of the heat shield splashing when you take the completed brew out. The heat shield now has about 1/3 inch clearance from the top. They apparently redesigned the carafe but I still have some issues (see Cons). Cons: It is a little wonky having to configure the heat shield, brew basket, carafe for each brew but the end result is very much worth it compared to "simpler" brewers. This is really not much of a con. The Carafe design is the biggest con. Once you brew and then attach the lid to the carafe, you can only get about 1/2 of the coffee out before the coffee starts to splash out of the carafe. I just take the lid off for the last 1/2 of the coffee and everything pours well. Again, the coffee is so good that I don't mind any of the "cons" Overall, I am very pleased with this brewer. It is now my favorite. It doesn't have the bells and whistles that other brewers have. All it does is make great coffee!!! It has the best extraction rate of all of the brewers that I have used.

Not worth the money. would buy closer to $100.
It honestly makes pretty good coffee that being said the carafe still sucks even with version two the whole where you pour water in is dumb. If you miss the whole slightly, the water will splash out. I probably would’ve kept it if it was half its price so two stars with price as a factor. Never mind I’m changing it to one star the carafe is so dumb. It doesn’t even have a seal option. It’s two options are poor and falls off, and the Pour tends to dribble. I forgot how stupid of a design that was so I’m going to one star.

Excellent coffee maker
We bought the Ratio 6 due to its minimal use of plastic in the brewing cycle. The water boils up through a glass tube (fun to watch!) and comes out a stainless steel showerhead. No plastic until the basket but since a filter is used, we're fine with that. A big investment but so worth it!. Excellent coffee. Easy to use, clean and quick 6-7 minute brew. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm all morning. Literally no complaints, it's perfect coffee, somehow unearths the coffee taste similar to our espresso maker and not at all the thin taste of our old drip machine. 100% happy with the purchase and highly recommend. Also appreciate the Ratio company's commitment to quality - it's apparent.

Very good, not perfect
This is a very good coffee maker. The construction seems quite sturdy. It has an effective bloom stage and brews quickly (which is what you want for the best possible flavor). It has a single control - a brew button. The coffee tastes as good as any other machine I've tried, including the moccamaster. Not better, but just as good. I'm taking off a star because the machine is at least 2 inches taller than it needs to be. It seems no one cares to make a high quality machine that isn't over a foot tall. I wish someone would. Also, the caraffe is strangely heavy and does not pour smoothly. Still highly recommended for the metal construction and great tasting coffee.

pour-over–style taste
The coffee maker can brew coffee with a pour-over–style taste, but after only three weeks of use, the power button has started to lift slightly.

Makes fantastic coffee; parts can trap water
I bought this after disappointment in the Moccamaster. This machine has consistently made great tasting coffee for me. I have used light and medium roasts with great results. Customer Service said to use their filters or BUNN 8-12cup. I have been using BUNN filters with good results. I did have trouble with the outside of the carafe, lid, and basket trapping water between the plastic layers. I didn't like that old water could be sitting in there getting moldy. Customer Service, however, was great and they sent me replacement parts for free there were a bit better, but not perfect. But since consistent, great coffee was my number one priority, I am still very happy with this machine - I just have to shake the parts a lot after washing them to get more water out of the cracks.
