My garbage disposal doesnt have a hole underneath to stick the jambuster into. so what now?

From the InSinkErator website: "Every InSinkErator is shipped with a self-service wrench. The wrench is silver colored, and shaped like a little crank, about four inches long. If you cannot find the wrench, you can use a standard 1/4-inch Allen wrench, or click here to order a replacement."This implies that every InSinkErator disposal does have the hole. It might not feel like it's there if the wrench you try to use is too big or too small.BTW, We just unjammed our disposal using a 1/4" Allen wrench.  It did take some muscle -- my husband had to do it because I could not get it to turn, and it even took him some effort -- but it worked!

so basically you can just do this with the right size allen wrench?

If your insinkerator is jammed then using this special Allen key may unblock the waste stuck at the bottom. In my case it didn't work only because I also had a leaky tap. When that was fixed the unit worked again. Maybe you need to look at the plumbing under your kitchen sink if that's where you have this insinkerator. Good luck.

what is the size (diameter) of the face of this wrench?

It's 1/4 inch.  I misplaced the one that came with my disposal and have found that a regular allen wrench works just as well on my model of InSinkErator.

Will this work on the  insinkerator evolution compact? I moved into a house that has this and no tool is here

It should. It is designed to work with Insinkerator units of all types, and while I'm no expert I believe that tjis tool will work with all of them.
