Dr. Alexander Pühringer has found a terrific way to teach German methodically and thoroughly, pointing out the latest conventions as German has evolved today. As an American who started learning German in Pennsylvania from the age of nine, continuing through college, and now refreshing my skills at sixty, I find Dr. Pühringer‘s methods very helpful. I own, and highly recommend his entire series of books- „ausgezeichnet“!

I like that the topics are presented clearly and without complications unnecessary for beginners. This simplicity makes it easy to get an overview of what needs to be mastered. At some points it seems a bit oversimplified, but I speak more than one language and have an advanced degree in linguistics, so my view is probably not typical for a beginner at learning German.

Cover a lot of and the most impotent subjects in German Grammar. The great benefit is that the explanations are not too long and right to the point mostly.

Very easy to go through it, and make it very interesting to learn this language

In spite of all the other positive reviews, I did not find this useful. My first interest was to learn (re-learn) the adjective declensions (weak, mixed, and strong). This is presented as a hodge-podge with (to me) illogical table set-up (e.g. "nominative genitive dative accusative, rather than n, a, d, g) with no attempt to illustrate the patterns. "just memorize it". If you look on line, you will readily find much clearer and more organized presentations. I have only glanced at the rest of the book--this really turned me off to it. I note that there are no exercises either--you have to buy a separate exercise book. Seriously!

This might be the best book to learn and understand German quickly and comprehensively. It really covers all there is to know about German grammar and it is explained very concisely, and yet understandably. I wish, the author and his team work on a vocabulary book too. Highly recommended!

Wonderful overview for those interested in truly understanding and loving the language...simple explanation...wish there was an additional listening and role play edition for English learners(

I was very suprised to come across such grammar books which will handhold you from basic concepts to advanced ones. It is a blessing in disguise for German language learners that such books like this truly exists. Also, the interface of the book is well structured and you can easily focus on those grammar concepts that you have a difficulty with. I bought the English version for me It is easy to understand Grammar concepts ex[plained in English as I am a fluent reader of English. A similar German version also exists if your German level is already advanced. If you are a beginner or low intermediate then buying the English version of the book is the right way to go. Full marks go to the author who took so much time and efforts for writing a book like this. Highly recommended and very beneficial if you combine this book with the Exercise book. They will give you good grounding.

This is an amazing book and outlines the structure of the German language in simplistic terms. It can be used as a learning tool or simply as a reference book. I have previous knowledge of the German language and found it invaluable for catching up. I particularly like the format where every topic starts on a fresh page and there are also loads of examples to enthasise the various points. Retailed at a very realistic price plus you are also provided with various links. One of which is a pdf of the book.
