Nitinol Memory Wire

Excellent for an elementary school student who is interested in science!

It does what is says, but the wire is very small. I recommend finding another place to buy the same thing except longer, as this is very overpriced.

I purchased this item to do an experiment with my students at school. I didn’t find anywhere that the length of the actual useable wire was less than 3 inches!! That was a very expensive piece of wire. I could barely twist the wire into a shape for the experiment. It does work but I really feel I was ripped off on that purchase.

The first time I used a small plastic cup. I put the bent wire inside then poured hot water into the cup. It flew up and hit the sealing! I switched to a plastic bowl and my son poured the hot water in, as the hot water hit a part of the wire it fixed itself straight. Next, we twisted it into the shape of a spring and held it there with needle-nose pliers while heating it with a lighter. Then I put it into the bowl with ice and cold water for about 5 minutes, took it out, straightened it, put it back in the bowl and added hot water. It turned back into the spring! So much fun, next we are going to try to make it curl up without tipping over. The speed it changes is incredibly fast!

I use it for materials subject practicals. To show the behavior of nitinol wire. Its not easily available in open market. Recommended.

Nice product works well. Good for kids science project.

Nitinol alloy is really awesome. Since it contains nickel & hardest material titanium it is not easy to cut. This alloy reminds its original shape. Make the wire in desired shape and apply some heat, and then it will come back to original shape. Really awesome 😊
